Things like the quality of blown insulation varies and cheap blown insulation like sold at Do It Yourself stores is not the same as top quality insulation. I got the spray on Radiant barrier applied to the roof sheathing and enough blown insulation added on top of the existing insulation to add R30 to what was already there. It has been two days since installation and I can tell that my AC unit does not work as hard to keep the house cool. Also the swing in temperatures at night have decreased.
