"Each member of the team: (Rob Boling , President; Terri, coordinator; Luke and Jose, Installers), were efficient, professional, and pleasant. The global pandemic did play a role in the timeliness of our project; however, Sanibel Shutters maintained excellent communication, throughout. We are truly happy with our plantation shutters and vertiglide window treatments. 5-star recommendation from Gary & Jean Mousseau"

"I was given someone in the company that could take on side jobs to meet my needs, The male that was sent appeared disheveled and not professional. A few simple jobs were completed and then communication was very fell through. There were multiple text stating when he would come to complete job with no call and no show. I was very aggravated by the unprofessional courtesy that I was given. My time seemed unimportant in the times given for return service."

Having been a hands-on homeowner for nearly 50 years, I have developed a skill set that allows me to help homeowners with small projects to maintain their homes. I retired from the corporate world three years ago, and have built a nice home maintenance service business to provide a reasonably priced service to homeowners looking for help with home maintenance.

Hi, I’m Dylan Gabriel. I have 7 years of experience in new construction and service, which has given me a strong background in hands-on work, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and working with different types of customers and job sites. Over the years, I’ve learned the importance of doing things the right way, paying attention to the details, and taking pride in the work I put my name on.\nI’m someone who takes my responsibilities seriously and likes to stay productive. I’m comfortable working independently, but I also enjoy being part of a team and learning from the people around me. My experience in both new construction and service has taught me how to adapt to different situations, think on my feet, and find solutions when challenges come up.\n\nI’m always looking for opportunities to improve my skills and expand my knowledge. I believe that having experience is important, but having the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn is just as important.

Window Treatments questions, answered by experts

There are several ways to reduce noise coming through your windows. You can seal gaps around the window frames with acoustic caulk or fresh weatherstripping to reduce noise and air leaks. Installing sound-dampening curtains, thick blinds, or shades can also help deaden sound vibrations. For an additional interior barrier, consider installing an acrylic or plexiglass sheet inside the window, which stifles sound while still allowing for outdoor views. Another strategy is to add external barriers, like dense shrubbery or a sturdy fence, to block neighborhood noises. If these methods are not effective enough, it might be time to install new noise-canceling windows.

Bay windows are supported by braces and industrial strength cables, often at the top of the window but sometimes at the bottom. The bay window may need buttress supports if installed on the second floor. Wood screws on the interior also hold the bay window in place. Bay windows are heavy and need proper support to prevent sagging and wall damage. You need to ensure that the support system can hold the weight of the window and the roof cab over the window.

Because egress windows are meant for emergency exiting and entering, they need to be an accessible size. The smallest an egress window is allowed to be is 15 inches in width and height, with an opening of around 4 square feet.

While some homeowners are under the impression that triple-pane windows can help to reduce sound, the truth is that triple-pane windows will not be much quieter than double-pane windows since having a third pane doesn’t make much difference in sound transmission. If you’re looking to reduce sound, you should consider installing laminated glass windows.

Expert installation optimizes insulation properties, cutting energy costs and enhancing home comfort year-round.
