"Paul responded promptly to my request for service. He came out right away to address a door that wouldn't;t close properly. Turned out he needed to take the latch keeper back to his shop to file it down and voila! the door stays closed now! I am very happy with the fix, the price and the excellent service overall!"

Customers say: True professional

"Hired Anthony to perform an home inspection on a house I'm looking to purchase. It turns out I may not be buying the house thanks to the great, thorough inspection Anthony did today. If you need an homeinspector,or remodeler,I'd recommend to him. Very highly. He charges the least of all inspectors and is great at what he does as well as being a caring, genuine person. If I had not hired him and did a self inspection to save money,Imay have bought a nightmare. Thanks Anthony Wells!"

"We could not be happier with the work done by Sanibel Shutters and the quality of the shutters. So glad that we went with real wood. We had them installed on all 13 windows in the house. The installers were so kind and did a fantastic job. I love walking into my home. The real wood shutters add such a beautiful classic look to it. I will be recommending Sanibel uShutters to everyone I talk to."

Window Treatments questions, answered by experts

Consider adding sash locks to your windows to fix drafty windows if you don't currently have any. Sash locks in double-hung and single-hung windows help to create a tight seal when windows are shut.

Casement window types differ from standard windows in that they have a hinge on the side or the top of the window so that it can open inwards or outwards. If your casement windows open upward, they usually have a crank to operate them. Casement windows with side hinges typically operate like a door, opening and closing without a crank.

In addition to window well covers or bars, you can take a few more steps to boost basement window security. Try motion-activated lighting; it scares off potential intruders by lighting up when someone gets too close. Strengthening your window glass with impact-resistant security film can also deter forced entry. A dependable home security system with window sensors and cameras offers real-time monitoring and alerts for added protection. Lastly, fostering good relationships with neighbors can establish a supportive community watch network, enhancing your home's safety.

While plywood will keep winds and debris from shattering your windows from the outside, window film can help protect your windows from the inside. Window film can keep a window from shattering. If your windows break, the film can hold the shards of glass in place, reducing the risk of cuts.

While you may sometimes see window film marketed as "hurricane window film," note that it doesn't provide sufficient hurricane protection on its own. It's no substitute for plywood, storm windows, or hurricane shutters.

Awning windows are just like hopper windows except that they open the opposite way. Instead of opening inward, awning windows open outward with a hinge at the top. This creates a mini-awning within your window frame, which is where the name comes from. Hopper windows, on the other hand, open inward with a hinge at the bottom.
