"Now that my husband has advanced ALS, he is no longer able to sleep in our upstairs master bedroom. The VA SAH grant which my husband was awarded allowed us to extend a small downstairs office space into the garage, to make him him a comfortable, bedroom built to both ADA and VA standards. An addition was built on to the existing home to provide him with a fully equipped handicapped bathroom which meets ADA/VA standards. Modifications were also made to the garage, deck, several doorways, and outside gate to provide adequate egress/ingress for my husband's power wheelchair. I hesitated until I understood that his low overhead expenses allowed him to submit a competitive bid and still make a profit.
