"John Walters and the AAA Construction and Restoration team are highly recommended. Our townhouse was built in 1967 and the bathroom was in serious need of remodeling, including significant water damage to the living room ceiling. John and his staff accompanied us to Home Depot twice to assist in selecting materials. The construction team was professional, hard-working, and always aimed to please. In fact, realizing that being out of the home was difficult for our family, the team even worked on Thanksgiving. They also even came the day after Thanksgiving to ensure that everything was perfect. It was. Our new bathroom is beautiful, the ceiling repaired, other work was also done and we are extremely pleased with the results. John Walters and the AAA Construction Team are A++. Work done included: Full bathroom remodeling with new shower/bath, toilet, vanity, mirror, fixtures, floor and shower tile with border, light fixtures, vent, painting. Replacement of structural beams, living room ceiling patch-up Downstairs toilet replacement Front door frame replacement"

"When we signed the papers, Steve was quick to take us to Home Depot and a couple of other ceramic shops to find the best deals and to understand what our tastes are like. Steve also took us to his house to show his work, which was a good sense of his skill level. He is working for you the whole time, thinking of the way that you will like the ultimate product. This is also the time when you get to know Steve. Steve can be a bit pushy, but you want someone that knows what they are doing and isn't afraid to tell it like it is. This was a major job, so, we were very cautious and a bit scared of the amount of money we were about to spend. The contract was for a set amount, but that doesn't include any materials, which is also a very big and endless amount. There is a lot of logistics trying to figure everything out and I would suggest getting a pad of paper to start the lists of materials you need to buy and a folder to keep all the receipts since when the job is done some things are returnable. As I mentioned the materials are on your own, so, it depends on your taste on how much you want to pay. The good side about Steve is, he doesn't take any percentage off the top to pick-up at any store (Home Depot preferred since it's close to him), but he went all over town to pick up the material. With Home Depot, he would pick up materials there and then HD would call you for a credit card. The first time is awkward, but then it just happens and it adds to the list. Work that was done included demo, moving materials to the Waste Management dumpster bags, ceiling popcorn removal, laid floor, wall and shower tile beautifully, glass inlay, painting (executing on another level), sanding doors, installing doors, shower doors, new faucets, electric fixtures and installation of vanity (leveled exact) and mirror. At the end of our project, there is no doubt, we would hire Steve again to do any job in our house. It took about three weeks from start to finish. It is never easy doing any construction job, but it worked out very well for us."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Completing structural engineering projects in Jacksonville can enhance your home’s value, especially if improvements address foundation stability, flood mitigation, or hurricane resilience. Buyers often seek homes with recent structural inspections and documented upgrades, as these features offer peace of mind. Properly permitted and professionally completed work can make your property more attractive and competitive in the local real estate market.

Helpful?

When hiring a structural engineering professional in Jacksonville, prioritize those with experience handling local soil conditions and hurricane-resistant design. Verify their familiarity with city permitting processes and building codes. Ask for references from recent projects involving foundation repairs or load-bearing wall modifications. Ensure they carry proper insurance and communicate clearly about project timelines and documentation requirements.

Helpful?

In Jacksonville, maintaining your home after structural engineering work means scheduling annual structural inspections to check for settling or shifting, especially in areas with sandy soil. It’s important to monitor drainage systems, inspect hurricane reinforcements before storm season, and treat wood components to prevent pest infestations. Regularly checking for corrosion on metal supports will also help extend your structure’s lifespan.

Helpful?

In Jacksonville, hidden costs during structural engineering projects often stem from additional soil stabilization requirements due to sandy terrain, unforeseen structural inspection needs, or mandatory plan revisions if local codes change mid-project. Homeowners may also encounter expenses for addressing outdated load-bearing walls, extra flood zone documentation, or repairs to concealed termite damage discovered after work begins.

Helpful?

When planning structural engineering in Jacksonville, consider how hurricane season can delay scheduling and material delivery. The city’s sandy soil impacts foundation design, while proximity to flood-prone areas may require elevated construction. Homeowners should also review HOA guidelines, local tree preservation rules, and ensure their project aligns with neighborhood structural standards to avoid delays or costly modifications.
