Customers say: Terrific value

"Overall, they did a very good job of cutting down all five tall turkey oaks and removing the felled trees. They were here on time and worked rapidly. No problems there. However, their tractor left huge gouges in the soil that took me some time to smooth over and repair. Something they should bear in mind as by using their tractor at the end and smoothing the area over, would be a big plus. Norm Schmidt. Hernando."

"I recently hired Sams Arbor Tree Service and was extremely impressed with their professionalism, responsiveness, and quality of work. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and made sure everything was cleaned up before leaving. They removed several large trees safely and trimmed others perfectly without damaging the surrounding property. What really stood out was their attention to detail and customer service. They explained the entire process clearly, offered fair pricing, and completed the job exactly as promised. It’s hard to find reliable companies these days, but this team exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them to anyone needing tree removal, trimming, or general tree care. I will definitely use them again in the future."

Customers say: True professional

"Great service. He called about 20 Minutes after i have send the request. Was out on the same day to look what needed to be done. Called later to let us know that they could do the job the next day. So they came out today and took a lot big branches out of 2 trees, which where hanging way over the roof. They did a great Job at a reasonable price. Always on time and called every time that they where on their way."

"163 was Awesome!! We had some trees over the house that needed to be trimmed. To me it looked like an impossible job above a two story home. These ancient oaks are so massive. 163 made it look like me pulling twigs off a small shrub. Their attention to detail was great. They pointed out and recommended stuff that I didnâ t think about. Very professional, knowledgeable, clean and friendly. If you need tree service done you will be very happy you called 163."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a bird's nest depends on the species. The building process can take from two days to three weeks. Once built, the nesting period for baby birds can last from two to ten weeks before they leave the nest. While most young birds are ready in two to six weeks, some predatory species may need up to two and a half months. Some species nest four to five times per year, so a nest could remain in use for several months. For specific information about a particular nest's longevity, it is best to consult a wildlife professional.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

You can use the formula mentioned earlier to calculate the depth of tree roots. Each inch of width of a tree trunk translates to six inches of depth within the root system. Large trees extend anywhere from 2 to 6 feet into the ground, with some magnificent specimens going even deeper.

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.

Consumers typically do not need to worry about the cost of tree insurance, as professional tree service companies pay for their own coverage. For a tree service business, an average U.S. policy covering about $1 million in general liability costs roughly $40 a month or $500 a year. More extensive policies, providing between $500,000 to $2 million in coverage, can cost between $3,000 and $6,000 annually, depending on the company's size and scope of work. Tree service professionals should speak with an insurance company to determine the right plan for their business.
