"Kevin did a great job of installing new tiles in our kitchen, replacing baseboards in our kitchen and dining room, and installing a new bathroom faucet. Before the job, we met to discuss what needed to be done and the materials each of us would get. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process, and Kevin was always on time or early. He's also great about cleaning up at the end of the day. The kitchen looks great now. Thank you, Kevin!"

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

Exhaust fans push air out of spaces, removing moisture, heat, odors, and pollutants. They vent air outside through ducts, preventing mold and improving air quality. Unlike ventilation fans, which circulate fresh air in and out, exhaust fans focus solely on expelling unwanted indoor air.

Selection relies on matching fan size and power to attic volume and ensuring compatibility with home electrical systems and ventilation requirements.

Some disadvantages of a blower cooler—a type of cooling device sometimes known as a swamp cooler—are its increased energy demand and its higher noise level. Blowers require more energy to run because they push air out at a higher pressure. This also means a blower cooler can be louder than a fan. Blower coolers are also not recommended for humid areas because humidity limits their cooling potential.

A blower and a fan serve different functions, so whether a blower versus a fan is better depends on what you need. If you need to heat or warm your home, it’s important that the HVAC blower is in good working condition. If you want to prevent an AC unit from overheating, make sure to keep up-to-date on condenser fan maintenance.

Most duct booster fans are not designed to run continuously, though some models can be programmed for constant operation. Typically, they are controlled by the user via a switch, controls on the unit itself, or by being wired to the HVAC system's thermostat. Wiring the fan to a thermostat allows it to run automatically only when heating or cooling is active, which saves energy and is an effective way to activate the fan only when needed to address issues like uneven room temperatures.
