Customers say: True professional

"Julián and Juan were very professional and explained everything in detail. They did a great job installing the ceramic tiles in my master bedroom and also repaired and painted a wall that was damaged by a leak. I would definitely recommend them and will be using them again."

"On this particular job, 7 local roofing companies told me the job could not be done because of the size of the skylights and the bracing needed for the installation under the new FL building codes. Jay and his team (inc. Dan the roofer) were able to complete the job in a professional and workmanlike manner on time and on price."

"Excellent experience. Davide is knowledgeable, talented and thorough. Hired his services for 4 hours to complete a long list of items. Minor electrical, chandelier assembly and installation, odds and ends. He was great and we scheduled another 4 hours for later this week. Great and professional."

"Overall Dan was very professional, responsive and punctual. It is amazing when you have a vendor show up at the time promised! He was always at least 10 minutes before the promised time. Dan and Tony were able to complete the long lists of items within a few days. I appreciate all of your hard work and dedication. The guys even came to my place on a Sunday to put in a half day to meet my deadlines. Be sure to be clear when giving direction - we had a couple mistakes that had to be fixed along the way due to paint selection in the wrong areas within the property. Dan and Tony fixed the issues once addressed with no complaints. Dan went above and beyond to help me with issues that arose during the project (i.e. exchanging a damaged bathroom vanity and minor retro fitting to old plumbing). Thank you again Dan for everything! I will definitely recommend you to my friends and family in the South Florida area.

"Fernando and his crew did an excellent job on remodeling my home. They were punctual, kept us informed, and flexible as we made some minor changes along the way. Their attention to detail was on point and took time on all small details. They covered our existing furniture to ensure it was not damaged and removed any debris each day. He is a pro and time and time we go to him for other projects. He keeps up to the schedule and does not leave you wondering like other contractors. Highly recommend him and his crew. You will not be disappointed."

"Lynn listened to our requests and incorporated them in the plans. She worked closely with the general contractor who brought her services to our remodeling project. She is very easy to work with and reliable--she keeps her commitments. She also shared a very enthusiastic attitude toward the project and seemed as eager as we were to see the finished project.
Furthermore Lynn is willing to go the extra mile. After a misunderstanding with the appliance business that Lynn had recommended, we were able to resolve the problem thanks to Lynn's intervention. She made all the necessary contacts with the cabinet maker and made sure that they completed the work to our satisfaction.
Lynn guided us along with our general contractor, Anthony Palermo of Atlantic Shore Home Improvement."

"Working with Max was a great decision. He made everything easy for us and worked with us to get our home updated in a manner that we wanted. We loved the fact that he knew what he was doing, including guiding us on decisions based on his experience, while keeping our budget in mind and it really showed in the final product, top notch quality. We would definitely recommend Max to anyone looking to get a remodel done in their house."

"It went very well. The work was A1 and Kevin was very professional and responsible. When he said he would show up he did and lately that’s a rare quality. I’ve referred KD to several clients and not one has complained to me about Kevin or his work."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

The time it takes to finish or remodel a basement can vary significantly, ranging from a few weeks to several months or even up to a year. On average, the construction phase can take four to eight weeks, but the total project time can extend to three or four months when including planning and permits. The timeline depends on several factors, including the basement's size, design complexity, the scope of the work, and your contractor's availability. A more detailed breakdown for an average-sized basement might include: framing (3-5 days), electrical and rough-in plumbing (3-5 days), drywall installation (5 days), flooring (2-3 days), and final touches like painting and trim (about a week). If preliminary work like installing a waterproofing system or addressing structural issues is needed, the timeline could extend to six to twelve months. Factors like difficult access, material transport, and ventilation needs can also add to the project's duration.

Walkout basements cost more than other kinds of basements, and can also increase your risk of leaks as well as a loss of insulation, leading to higher heating and cooling costs. Improperly installed walkout basements may lead to structural issues with your foundation, so ensure you’re working with a contractor who has extensive experience with this kind of basement.

You should always use high-quality lumber for your framing in order to ensure it will last the test of time and resist moisture. Use 2-foot by 4-foot lumber that is pressure-treated for your framing.

Joists and beams are both part of the flooring system above your basement, with the beams spanning the length of your home and getting support from vertical posts underneath, and joists usually spanning half the width of your home with no support posts underneath. The floor joists provide even support to the subflooring and flooring above, and they distribute that load to the beams. The beams then distribute that load down through the support posts to the foundation.

There are several small, inexpensive upgrades you can make to upgrade your basement. Although you still need to adhere to building codes and obtain permits when necessary, you can complete small but mighty tasks like painting the masonry walls and installing entertainment devices to make the space more usable.
