"I highly recommend Pete Jennings! He painted and sealed my pool deck, and the results are incredible—it looks brand new. Pete was professional, efficient, and paid close attention to every detail throughout the entire process. Not only did he do outstanding work, but his pricing was also very reasonable. It’s hard to find someone who combines quality craftsmanship, reliability, and fair pricing, and Pete exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re looking for someone reliable who takes pride in their work and delivers outstanding results, Pete is the person to call. I couldn’t be happier with how my pool deck turned out!"

"It was the best decision to hire Pressure Point Power Washing. He did a fantastic job on my driveway, walkways, back patio, and all of the walls and roofs to the porches. The cost was very reasonable which I was thankful for. I will hire him again."

Customers say: Quality work

"This is our second time using Mike and his team. Both times his work has been exceptional and professional. He likes to do the job right the first time. He has a competent crew that adds to his ability to do a variety of things. Both times I have hired him he has left the place as clean as possible. We appreciate that. We will be calling him back for future jobs."

"The good tides crew were respectful of my time and property. The build quality was next level and the materials used were not your average big box materials. They used marine grade materials to make sure my framing would last just as long as my composite deck. You could go over the whole deck and not find a bad cut or a misplaced screw."

"I was happy to find Mr. Marku to repair the bent track on my sliding glass patio door. He was punctual and gave me a free estimate this morning, and offered to fix it right then if we agreed on the price. I immediately agreed because it was a fair and reasonable price. He did an excellent job repairing my sliding glass patio door. It is like new now! He also tightened the lock set on the handle, which had come loose. I was delighted that I did not have to buy a new door or lock set. His wife assisted him and did a thorough job cleaning up after the repair. Thank you for the excellent service! I will definitely keep him in mind for future projects."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.

Yes, deck pier blocks can be used as an alternative to traditional deck footings, particularly for small or low-to-the-ground decks. Unlike poured concrete and buried post footings, deck blocks don’t require digging or pouring. However, their use is regulated by local building codes, and they may not be permitted in areas prone to high winds, earthquakes, or hurricanes. Always consult your local building codes before choosing them for your deck project.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Cutting the boards directly is one of the fastest ways to remove deck boards with hidden fasteners. Mark two parallel lines that are one-third of the total measurement on both ends and cut out the centerpiece. Then, remove the end of the board that doesn’t have a fastener. Finally, pry open the fastened side and pull it up to pop out the screw or access the fastener. This also allows you to salvage portions of boards for other projects.

You can add a roof to most decks, but you need to have it inspected first. If your deck didn’t come with a roof initially, it may not be able to handle the weight without some structural changes. You can add additional supports to your existing deck to safely add a roof, and tying your deck’s roof to an exterior wall can help add some structural stability, but remember these aren’t DIY projects and need to be left to a pro.
