"What a pleasurable experience. Brad and team is very professional and always on time. The work done was impeccable and I cannot wait to work with them again on all my house needs. The dock they built for is amazing! The woodwork was spot on. The crew that works on site are all friendly and kind. Thanks for the work!"

"They did the job very well and I was happy with everything they did. They showed up on time but actually a little early. They removed the old air conditioner and installed the new one and took the old one out to the curb."

"I needed someone to install a pet door through a concrete wall. Finding someone willing to do that task was a little difficult. Kallpa Control reached out to me through Angi's list, sent Henry out to take a look at the job and he came back when scheduled, on time and did a great job. I could not be any happier. He constantly was cleaning up the work site which was refreshing to see someone actually do that while working. He was polite, respectful and made sure we were pleased with the job before he left."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.

While your forced heating system runs, it can pick up dirt, dust, hair, and other particles from inside your house. Changing your furnace filters regularly is key to preventing this debris from getting stuck in your ducts and swirling around your home. With some types of furnaces, there’s also the potential for carbon monoxide leaks. However, staying up-to-date with your HVAC inspections and installing carbon monoxide sensors can help mitigate this risk.

Absolutely! Smoke alarms are lifesavers. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), per 1,000 reported home fires, homes without working smoke alarms have a death rate nearly twice as high as those that do have working alarms. So remember to ensure you have enough installed in your home and that they are working and in good shape.

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.

Home insurance prices depend on where you live and the individual insurance company's policies. Some insurers charge a flat fee for fireplaces or wood-burning stoves, which is often a few hundred dollars per year. Other insurers base this fee on a percentage of your annual premium. You may want to check your current or prospective policy before beginning this project.
