"I was contacted immediately even though it was a weekend. Shane is coming on Monday to haul away my mattress. I could not have gotten a quicker turnaround time and he is working around my schedule. I had called other places and they wanted $80-$90 to haul it, but Shane is doing it for cheaper! I could not have asked for anything better. Highly recommend this company."

"When I called to inquire about renting a dumpster from Trash Talks, Harly was very helpful in steering me to the right size dumpster and the price was right at $550. Trevor dropped off the dumpster when and where I needed it. If your looking for a prompt and competitive dumpster company then look no more."

"I would recommend Blue Tide Hauling to anyone who needs help with hauling off items/boxes/etc. they no longer need. Lucas is incredibly dependable, professional, and fair priced. I cannot thank both Lucas and Alyssa enough for their help. It started with getting rid of a mattress and some boxes which went great, but then my movers wound up not bringing my boxes up to my 3rd floor apartment, so I called Lucas and he was there within 30 minutes and had all of my stuff up in less than half an hour. He literally saved me and my things. It was a very stressful day, but having Blue Tide made it so much better. I cannot recommend them enough, or say enough nice things about this company!"

Dumpster Service questions, answered by experts

The amount a 6-by-10-foot dump trailer can hold varies depending on the model. Generally, however, they can hold at least 4 cubic yards of waste with a load capacity of at least 4,000 lbs. This is around 1/4 to 1/2 the amount a standard junk removal truck can hold. It’s also considerably less than the most common dumpster size of 20 cubic yards.

The most affordable way to get rid of junk often involves a do-it-yourself approach, especially if you don't have a large amount of debris. Start by sorting your items into categories: donate, recycle, sell, or trash.

  • Donate or Sell: Usable goods can be donated to local charities. You can also list items for free or for a low price on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

  • Use Municipal Services: Your city's regular garbage collection or bulk pickup days can be the cheapest option. However, be sure to check community guidelines for quantity limits and accepted materials. You can also take recyclables to a city drop-off center.

  • Haul it Yourself: If you have a truck or suitable vehicle, loading the junk and taking it to a local transfer station, public dump, or waste disposal facility is a very cost-effective method.

If a DIY approach isn't possible, consider these options:

  • Rent a Dumpster: You can rent a dumpster, fill it yourself, and the rental company will haul it away. This is a good middle-ground if you can do the labor but don't have a vehicle for transport.

  • Hire a Junk Removal Service: While typically the most expensive choice, hiring a professional junk removal team is the most time-efficient and requires the least effort from you. This is a good solution if your city's services won't accept the items or if you are unable to move them yourself.

The average cost to rent a dumpster is around $400 per week, but the price can range from as low as $80 to over $850. The final cost depends on several factors, primarily the dumpster's size, the type of material you're disposing of, and the length of the rental period. A standard 20-yard dumpster often falls within the average price range, while smaller dumpsters or dumpster bags are cheaper, and larger 40-yard dumpsters are more expensive. Expect to pay more if you need the dumpster for longer than the typical one-week rental period.

The cost for junk removal is $240 on average, but prices can range from $60 to $600. Your total price largely depends on the items you’re having removed. Certain appliances, like window air conditioners, range from $75 to $90 to remove. However, more oversized items, like hot tubs, fall on the expensive side of the range, costing between $200 and $600 for removal. You should also consider the amount and weight of your junk, with most junk removal companies requiring a minimum of 2 cubic yards.

The majority of general contractors include junk and trash removal in their contracts, but services vary. As the homeowner, you may need to manage tricky items on your own, such as disposing of laminate flooring in an eco-conscious way or by arranging for appliance pickup with your local waste management service.
