"We enjoyed working with Bradford Interiors on this remodel for our home. Charles was able to take our vision for the mother in law unit and make it into reality. We are very pleased with the outcome."
The Gignacs selected both white Shaker cabinets with quartz and premium stone for the the gray cabinet island that I put together using
stock Cabinetry and 2 by 4 framework. Electrical wiring had been pre routed through the floor prior to tile installation.
Typical kitchen package including white Shaker cabinets, quartz countertops, full-height backsplash and accent lighting
Freeform Island design with custom made panels to match cabinet doors, greige flat panel cabinets w/ 3cm quartz counter tops , full ht. tile backsplash , accent lighting

Nick the owner was very professional and clearly explained the stages of the project and was able to work with the pricing points that I could commit to. "American Eco Systems (AES) Contractors did a phenomenal job. First, they made their availability meet our tight timelines and their initial assessment and discussion, clearly showed that they were professional and had an attention to detail. We had work done in every room, to include painted the outside and pool deck, and totally replaced the kitchen and master bath suite. There were no surprises and they were very flexible as we expanded our initial work order. We couldn't be more happy."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Construction typically takes 3-6 months, including site preparation and assembly.

Yes, a home builder or contractor should have the proper licensing and insurance. Licensing requirements vary by state and municipality, but most states mandate that a builder holds at least a general contractor’s license. For specialized work such as plumbing, electrical, roofing, or sewage systems, individual licenses may be required, in which case the builder may subcontract the work. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to review your local guidelines and confirm a builder's credentials. As you browse professionals, you can also look for the “Angi Certified” badge. This indicates the business meets our certification standards, which include passing a criminal background check, holding applicable state and local licenses, and maintaining an average rating of 3.0 or better.

Builder-grade is one of two types of stock cabinets, whereas semi-custom designs allow homeowners some control over the color, finish, or hardware on their cabinets. Stock cabinets are sold in construction-grade and builder-grade designs. Construction-grade cabinets are usually made from inexpensive medium-density fiberboard, which is prone to moisture damage, whereas builder-grade models are a step up with higher-quality materials. Construction-grade designs are the most common type of cabinets in America.

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

It is a good idea to check in with your local city and state regulations before committing to building a shipping container home no matter where you live. This concept is pretty new across the country, and many places won’t let you build one.

The International Code Council (ICC) offers guidelines for home builders on the safe use of ISO intermodal shipping containers repurposed as building components, which can be helpful to review when planning or designing a shipping container home.
