I saw their ad in The Home Mag for a free estimate on windows and called them. First, Jon said that he could come by that evening at 5 PM. Then, he said that he will call me back once he gets back to the store to see if he should come or his partner since his partner apparently lived closer or had business closer to my house in E. Bradenton. So, he called back and after a lot of unnecessary chit-chat about his partner, his wife and their previous jobs at previous locations around the county, said that he had been reminded that he can't come at 5PM and his partner couldn't either. Then, he proceeded to supposedly make an appointment for the following week for their so-called free estimate, BUT instead of making the damned appointment, he made a complete fool of himself, talking himself and me out of the free estimate by basically closing the sale (except without making the sale....of course, no one makes a sale over the phone for windows....but apparently, he wasn't interested in selling me any windows which defeats the whole purpose of being in this business....but I guess there are crazier things an people in this world than this guy) Here's how the conversation went over the phone: So, he asked me how many windows I want replaced. I told him two in the bathroom over the tub. He said that the price for 2 windows like that would be $3500. We've done enough windows for me to be able to guesstimate the size and type of windows that people need in their homes so if you are OK with that price then we can make the appointment for the free estimate. If you want something cheaper than that then there's no point in making that appoint..........My jaw dropped over the phone....I should rest my case right here, right? But, I'm going to give you the whole truth so you realize how absurd these people are and how you should avoid dealing with them altogether for your own sanity! I told him that it just didn't make sense to me that he provided me with such a high estimate for only 2 windows over the phone without knowing the size and type of window I wanted. And, that I had had another free estimate by a very reputable company for the best windows in FL for 1/3 of that price. Then, he asked me about the size of the windows. Let me remind you that he was so cocky in the beginning that he was the "know it all" about everything I needed and wanted but I guess my statement put him in his right place. So, I told him that I had 2 windows made of block glasses that I wanted removed and regular pane windows installed in their place. I told him that one of the windows was about 3 blocks by 8 and the second one which is larger is about 8 blocks by 8 blocks. Then, he said, "Oh OK, so your windows are smaller than what I had envisioned, usually with 2 windows above the tub we have 2 arched windows or basically larger windows." I told him so his first claim was proven wrong! He really didn't and couldn't have knows the size of my windows without having seen and measured them. He paused for less than a second and proceeded, "Well, I still stand for the estimate I gave you. The price of those two windows will still be around $3500." I told him that he was running a "Free Window...Buy 2 Get 3rd Free" promotion which meant a 33% discount. The other reputable company had given me the same discount as people who needed 3 windows and I couldn't see why they wouldn't either. He said, well, the price of your two windows will not be $2500 if that's what you are asking. I told reminded him that he had been proven wrong about the size of the windows so why was he adamant about the "type" of window I would be choosing. I asked him what type of window he was quoting me on, on a scale of cheapest to most expensive. He said that he was quoting me on the upper medium priced range windows. I asked him how much does he guesstimate my windows cost at the medium range price. He replied that he didn't know unless I saw the different kinds of the windows and gave him the exact one I liked. So, again I proved his "know it all" claim WRONG! Now I rest my case! Would you go shopping at such a window place??? I know I wouldn't. I hung up on him after telling him that as an award-winning sales person, I have never seen a salesman, much less a partner in a business, talk his customer out of buying what he was selling like he just did on the phone in about 15 minutes time! I told him that he obviously didn't want to make a sale or make any efforts at making a sale much less serving his community with respect to windows! He started BSing again and I hung up on him!
