Floormax sold us laminate flooring, porcelain tile and underlayment products and installation services. Floormax's salesman provided samples of the Armstrong laminate and represented that it would, with the Ditra underlayment Floormax would use, lay flat and not separate at the seams and peel at the edges.
The Armstrong flooring was installed through the entire first (ground) and second floors of our townhome excluding the bathrooms. The installation was completed in October, 2014. The defects in the laminate flooring and the unprofessional installation were evident at and shortly after installation.
We notified Floormax's representative by email and text that the flooring was separating and the laminate surface was peeling back. The defects include, but are not limited to: unevenness among planks, gapping between the planks, peeling back and chipping off of the laminate layers on the edges of the ends of the planks, and peeling-curling back along the lengths of the planks. We sent the representative pictures of some of the many defective areas in the flooring in early and mid December because he did not respond to our texts and earlier emails.
On January 16, 2015 a Floormax representative came to our home to inspect. The Floormax representative confirmed verbally to my husband that both the installation and the laminate product were defective. The representative also said that Armstrong's representative would have to come out and inspect the floors to address the laminate warranty claim.
On February 13, 2015, Floormax's representative and Armstrong's representative, David Day of JJ Haines Co., inspected the laminate flooring and the installation. Armstrong's representative first refused to identify himself, and said he did not have any business cards. We showed the Floormax and Armstrong representatives the numerous areas where the flooring was separating, the laminated layers were peeling back and seams were separating further. On both the upper and ground floors, the Armstrong representative remarked to Floormax's representative that he could see where the laminate was buckling. Armstrong's representative requested, and we provided an extra laminate plank so that warranty testing could be done.
On March 16, 2015, we received a written notice from the financing company's Customer Service department forwarding a letter from Joseph Jovinelli, VP of Floormax which stated that "we have taken every step possible to move this process forward and expedite this matter...". He then states that Floormax is waiting for Armstrong's response.
On April 7, 2015, we received an email from Laura Rutherford, the Customer Service Manager at Floormax forwarding the Armstrong representative, forwarding a "Turn Down" letter from Armstrong on March 23, 2015. The Armstrong letter stated that Armstrong concluded the defects were not a "warranted issue" and "site related concerns not covered under warranty". Armstrong attributed the failure of their product to our alleged but unspecified misuse of their product. Armstrong used boilerplate language stating that the failure was due to excessive subfloor moisture, pet accidents, spills, improper maintenance ? all of which is false: we have no pets, don't wear outside shoes in the house, don't spill and had only dusted and spot cleaned the laminate in the 3+ months it had been installed. And we were told by Floormax and in the Armstrong literature that there was a 20 year warranty on this product. Also, we were never given a copy of the purported tests of the flooring, nor was the sample of the flooring returned to us.
To this day, Floormax has not offered to address either the product defects or their defective installation services.
Additionally, Floormax also tried the bait-and-switch tactic with us on the porcelain tile. We also contracted to have them provide and install porcelain tile in several bathrooms of our home. In November, 2014, when Floormax prepared to come to our home and install the porcelain tile, I received a same day call from Floormax stating they did not have the specified porcelain tile in stock or available any more. This was despite the sales agent's promise one month before that he would have the tile set aside for us. When we were told the tile was unavailable on the day the install was scheduled, I was told the warehouse had some similar tile they could bring and install. I told the dispatcher that we needed to compare the sample of the ordered porcelain to anything they brought to install. I also told her that the proposed replacement had to be porcelain, that ceramic tile would not be acceptable. She assured me that it was porcelain.
When the installers arrive at our home my husband asked to see the box of the proposed replacement tile. The installer said it was porcelain. My husband knew by the weight of the tile that it was not porcelain and so insisted that he be shown the box. The box clearly stated that the tile was ceramic. My husband sent the installers away. And so we lost another day of work. I then had to go back to Floormax to the Germantown location and select alternate porcelain tile which was finally installed 4-5 days later.
To date, we have paid over $5700 of the total amount of over $7700 charged by Floormax, and have waited over 5 months to obtain resolution with our laminate dispute. They have engaged in deceptive acts and practices, and to this date have not resolved our claims regarding their defective products and installation services.
We would never use Floormax, nor purchase Armstrong laminate again. Neither company stands behind their products or services.

After other subs were done, we pulled off paper, to find numerous tiles uneven and not level. Gaston refused to even return to job site to look at the tiles, and said that the tiles were not even, if we would get him a "tile bender" (very sarcastic) he would be glad to straighten them and replace individual tiles at additional cost of $35 per tile. We hired a certified Florida tile/flooring inspector, who indicated that all tile product was well within specifications, and that the installation where tiles were uneven, was unacceptable installation, not due to the product.. Still Gaston refused to return to look at the job. We paid additional money, to another contractor, who, using the same product batch, installed level tiles. The job took place sometime in Fall of 2014, I am not certain of month and week. Got a 2024 update on my kitchen to newer lighter colors which helped me get my place sold in a tougher market. Had a dresser refinished too which now looks great. Very responsive to all my needs. More businesses should be this professional.
Was an excellent repair option. I was very pleased

This repair was okay, but we also had a dishwasher repaired and they didn't wire it back correctly so it caught on fire.

"On 5/29/25 Tristin came to my house and gave me a quote on a new shower remodel with a new toilet, and we signed the contract. I thought $12,000 plus was exorbitant, but Tristin assured me that Long Home uses quality materials, excellent craftsmanship, and excellent service. He told me that they will replace all the pipes, and the shower and toilet will have lifetime warranties. So, I agreed and gave him half down and it was scheduled for the 6/27/25 and 6/28/25. Tristian called me on the 6/5/25 and told me that for the shower I choose the half wall that was part of my existing shower would have to be removed, he said otherwise I would have to pay an additional $1,500+, because the shower I agreed to couldn’t be installed otherwise. I told Tristin on 5/29/25 that I did not want the wall removed, but after talking to Tristin on the 5th I relented and said the wall could be removed and ordered another toilet for my other bathroom. The day of the installation came, and one guy came on time and the actual plumber came about 2 hours late around noon. They started working on the demolition and Tristin came around 4pm to move the power socket that was in the wall they removed. He put a rough patch on the wall and installed the outlet without the cover. They removed my cabinet from the wall so they could take down the wall but never replaced it. They worked until 10 pm on Friday. Tristin was supposed to come out on Saturday to finish the patch and put the cover on the outlet. Saturday 6/28/25 the helper arrived at 830 am and the plumber arrived at 1030, at 450 pm the plumber showed me the shower rod they sent with my shower, and it was too short. He told me to call Tristin, I did, and he said OK Tristin never showed up and the two guys finished at 945 pm without putting the cabinet back up. I checked the toilet in the bathroom where the shower was installed, and it kept running after I flushed it, and I put a toilet cleaning tab in the other one and noticed the toilet lid does not fit right. I texted Tristin on Sunday morning telling him about both toilets and he texted me back on that Monday and said he could come at 4pm. I work nights and did not get up until around 5pm and I texted him and told him that I do not usually get up until 6pm during the week when I work and he never messaged me back. I sent Tristin another text on Saturday 7/5/25 telling him to ask him when he could come out and fix the problems I have. I have not heard back as of yet. Long Home charges a premium price and Tristin told me that I would get premium service, he said this is why they charge so much, but the experience I’ve had is anything but premium, I paid $12,000 and I only have one toilet that works correctly even though the lid doesn’t fit properly, I had to buy a shower rod so I could use my shower, since the one I bought from them didn’t fit, which makes no sense because they knew the dimensions of the shower. I had to have a wall removed that I did not really want removed, because they made a mistake when I signed the contract. I have the outlet in my bathroom wired without a cover, my wall is not finished, and my cabinet is still sitting in my bedroom. I do not mind spending the money for something, but I want the product and the service to be worth the price, I paid for professionals, but this is not the problems you are supposed to have with professionals."

FAQs for porcelain refinishing projects in Bokeelia, FL
The average cost of installing tile is around $2,000, ranging between $400 and $6,500, depending on the type of tile, square footage of tile, and whether or not your tiling contractor performs site preparation, like removing old tile. On average, you can expect to pay between $5 and $45 per square foot, largely depending on the type and quality of the tiles you choose. For example, ceramic and travertine tile cost about $1 per square foot, but luxury tile options like marble cost up to $350 per square foot, not including labor.
The cost of home remodeling is $50,000 for the average homeowner. However, this cost can range anywhere from $3,000 for a small projectto $170,000 for a whole home remodel. Factors like project size, location, and room type all affect your overall cost. For example, bedroom remodeling costs are one of the least expensive projects, costing about $1,500 to $5,500 per bedroom. However, a kitchen remodel has a significant cost range, totaling anywhere from $14,500 to over $70,000.

As such, tile will add far more value to your home than laminate.
