"I had my small bathroom tub removed and replaced with a tile walk-in shower. The bathroom also got a new vanity top and sink. The walls and baseboards/trim where painted. Odd Job Willie made it easy to select the perfect items with local vendors and Andrew who tiled my shower was a master at what he did. I highly recommend Odd Job Willie for remodel projects and look forward to working with this company in my future projects."

"It was a reasonable estimate, it's just that we're not ready for that project yet. We have an enormous driveway and that's a lot of money. The guy was super professional, he came out more than once, I think. He answered all questions. He gave us estimates in a timely fashion. Much better than what we've seen in this area. I thought it was very good for what was in the process, I thought it was very reasonable."

"I had wood laminate flooring installed in three rooms, and wood treads and risers installed on my stairs. I am very happy with the results. My floors and stairs really look great."

"Dean installed our new tile backsplash and we couldn't be happier. He and his wife Vanessa were very friendly and professional. It was a quick and easy process. He did great and clean work. 10 out of 10 would recommend! We will be having DVS back for more projects I'm the future!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

There are no unbreakable rules of design, but experts recommend against using large tiles in areas with poor subflooring where they’re more prone to cracking, in areas where the floor isn’t entirely level, over raised areas or dips, and in bathrooms where budget is the primary concern. The size of your bathroom shouldn’t be a reason not to use large tiles; in fact, larger tiles, also known as slab tiles, can be a modern and sleek choice for bathroom floors and walls.

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture. Unglazed ceramic tiles need to be sealed to keep the porous tile safe from moisture and staining. However, both types of tile can benefit from sealing. Sealant can make the tiles easier to keep clean and offer more resistance to water, spills, and stains.

Natural stone tiles are durable, heat-resistant, and add timeless elegance to floors, walls, and countertops.
