"We recently bought a house that had a small pond out back. We knew nothing about caring for/maintaining a pond. Jeremy responded promptly and came to service our pond. He was very knowledgeable and was able to teach us what we needed to know. He also grows plants for ponds and was able to bring us some which made the pond much prettier and will help maintain the pond environment. As the business name suggests, he also builds custom ponds and has koi fish as well. I would highly recommend Jeremy and Delaware Custom Ponds for all your pond needs!"

"It all looks nicely done. They have delivered what they said. They did this all in one day, four people worked like dogs for the entire day. They work fast and have able bodies. They do exactly what they say they are going to do in the estimate. We seem to be on the same page and it gets done nicely. They are a little more versatile than your average yard cleaner uppers."

"VERY VERY DISSAPOINTING!     First response was great  for a price of $400 they came cut the grass  & treat for weeds, did a great job and stated would be back in 3 weeks to retreat stubborn areas.  (Thought the price was a bit much but my son was trying to do a good thing for his dad and Glasgow came on short notice did a good job so it was worth it.)      But after 4 weeks THEY NEVER CAME BACK.....          At that same time I also discussed having them continue on as our lawn care company  they recommended aeration, over seeding, fertilizing and lyme , said they would crunch some numbers and get back to me.          I called a minimum of 5 times on 3 separate occasions Sean said he would call back later that day or the next as they were on a job , reasonable ..ok...          But he NEVER CALLED BACK. any of the times he said he would.            Then Randy called said we have you on the schedule to cut Friday, I told him we never got a call back with any information or price and was then quoted  $600!  for the services.       I had been calling other companies for price quotes when no calls were being returned from Glasgow Landscaping.          When they said $600 after 4 other places quoted from $250 to $350 for the same services I thought Glasgow was taking advantage!     And because they never came back to retreat the crabgrass and stuff that wasn't completely killed  I thought they should credit back some of what we already paid.        My son spoke to Randy today requesting a partial credit for the work not completed,   he offered to come back and retreat  ughhh !    over 4 weeks later!        I had already hired another company to do what I wanted them to do  and the aeration and new seed has already been done.  So partial credit will not be given because they can't complete the work!  So I guess that means  its our fault they can't retreat it now because another company did the work in a timely manner?                          I think Randy and Sean  are nice people and really wanted to do a good job for us, but maybe there was too much on their plate at the time.  so again very disappointed.......... :(

"Precision Service came out during a special Angie's List was running at the time. Denny Nelson, was professional, thorough, and informative. After the cleaning, he informed us that our gutters needed repair in a few places and he even did what he could do to prevent them from falling down while he was cleaning, but we needed to hire someone to fix the majority of the work. He is hard-working and efficient and I would recommend his work and I believe him to be honest.

Aquarium Services questions, answered by experts

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.

A septic system's lifespan typically ranges from 15 to 40 years, with a common average of 20 to 30 years. The longevity heavily depends on the tank's material, maintenance diligence, and usage habits. With proper care, lifespans can reach the upper end of this range.

Lifespan by Tank Material:

  • Concrete: 20 to 40 years

  • Plastic or Fiberglass: 30 to 40 years

  • Steel: 15 to 20 years

To maximize your system's lifespan, follow these maintenance best practices:

  • Regular Pumping and Inspections: Have the tank pumped every three to five years and schedule professional inspections regularly.

  • Mindful Usage: Only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid putting items like cat litter, paper towels, cigarette butts, fats, grease, oils, or coffee grounds down your drains.

  • Avoid Chemicals: Do not pour harsh chemicals into the system.

  • Water Conservation: Reduce the amount of wastewater your system has to process.

  • Protect the Drain Field: Avoid driving or building heavy structures over the drain field area.

Before you hire a septic repair pro, make sure you get three written quotes from local companies to help you evaluate qualified candidates. Ask each company to provide proof of licensure and insurance. Finally, when you decide to hire a specific pro or company, ask for a written contract that sets out all the essential terms, including specific work expectations, a timeline, what permits are needed, who is responsible for obtaining permits, and clear payment details, including due dates.

Common signs that a septic tank is full include plumbing issues, odors, and changes in your yard. You may notice wastewater or sewage backing up into your home's drains, or that sinks, tubs, and toilets are draining slowly. Gurgling or bubbling sounds from the pipes are also a key indicator. Outside, you might smell foul sewage odors around your house or the septic tank area. Look for pooling water, spongy soil, or a marshy environment around the drain field. Another tell-tale sign is a patch of grass over the septic system that is suddenly lusher and greener than the rest of your lawn. If you notice any of these signs, you should contact a septic professional for an inspection and pumping.

Your septic tank naturally contains the good bacteria it needs, so you typically don't have to add more as the system produces them on its own. However, if you wish to replenish the bacteria, you can use natural methods. For example, you can add three rotten tomatoes to your garbage disposal or flush 1/4 ounce of active yeast down the toilet every three months. While store-bought septic enzymes and chemicals are available, many additives are unnecessary and may even harm your system. The most effective way to maintain a healthy bacterial balance is to avoid using chemical drain cleaners, which can kill the beneficial bacteria in your tank.
