"Chet and his team sanded and refinished our hardwood floors and did an excellent job Would definite recommend the Floor Guy and would use them again. No problems what so ever, he quoted a price which he kept to, he finished the job timely as promised My floors were in such bad shape, now they look fantastic"

"What an amazing transformation of my flooring. Mike put his heart and soul into this job. It required a lot of sanding and then coating with polyurethane. During the process, Mike kept me in the loop as to what he was doing. In fact, he put down three different stains for me to decide which one I thought would look the best. I went with the natural look. I would highly recommend Best Choice flooring for all of your flooring needs. The finished product was amazing, from the color, coating, to the trim that he put down. Mike started the job and worked on the job until it was completed."

"Steve was professional, punctual, and reasonably priced! He was knowledgeable about what type of wood was used and was able to give recommendations for the best finish to apply once the floors were sanded. Steve informed me of what was going to be completed each day and had me walk through at each step of the process to ensure I didn’t have any questions or concerns. He took care in covering up spaces to ensure little mess as possible. Overall I am thrilled with the result! Would highly recommend."

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

A few different types of land surveys can help determine certain features and boundaries of your property. These include:

  • Boundary surveys describe the actual borders of a property. These are generally required when trying to get construction permits issued.

  • Location surveys provide much of the same information as a boundary survey but also include in-depth information about any improvements made to your property.

  • Mortgage location surveys are usually required by lenders and title companies before financing or offering an insurance policy.

  • Site-planning surveys are done before applying for building permits and can be issued before any major home improvements.

  • Topographic surveys provide a formal map of land elevations. It can also describe the location and size of natural features and any land improvements.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.

ALTA/ACSM surveys are the most comprehensive type of land survey and, as such, tend to be the most expensive. These surveys have standardized guidelines and reports and are used in many kinds of real estate transactions to ensure consistent and accurate information is available for properties.

You can’t build on undeveloped land without preparing it for construction, which involves running utilities to the site or accounting for private utilities like wells and septic systems and grading and compacting the soil for safe construction. Once you prepare the land, you can build on it as long as the project abides by local zoning regulations.

The small lines on the tape measure either indicate inches, fractions of an inch, or centimeters and millimeters. On the imperial unit side (aka the inches side), the longest lines indicate inches, followed by the next shortest lines that indicate a half-inch, and then the quarter, eighth, and sixteenth-inch. On the metric side, the lines break down meters, centimeters, and millimeters.
