"Marcin and his crew are outstanding. The show up on time every day. They were courteous to our home and property and have good etiquette. Marcin responds to all phone calls in a timely manor and checks up on his workers. We had the exterior of our house painted. It is a stone and brick house so only the windows/doors/trim, etc were painted. The men did a few things that we didn't even ask for that added to the quality of the job. 1. They removed and replaced some damaged window glazing. 2. We discovered, after they had finished, they polished the brass door handles on the front door. Unfortunately, we had a small problem that caused the work to take a lot longer than we expected and thus the job ended up going from $7,000 to $11,000. Since there were multiple layers of paint, there were many highs and lows when the paint was applied. We ended up having to have wood filler put on the entire house, and that added about a week to the job. While the increase in cost wasn't the best feeling, the job was done right and looks great. Of course, we are always prepared for unexpected costs when doing home improvement jobs. This was our second large job with Martin's Home Improvements, and we expect to continue to utilize them."

"Salesman was very accommodating and arranged a quick installation as the house was on the market already. Installers arrived promptly and worked quickly and efficiently. Work foreman was very easy to work with and took the time to explain everything. Work was finished in a timely manner. Work area was left clean. Two calls to the service dept. a couple of weeks later have gone unanswered. My C rating on responsiveness is a combination of an A for the sales rep and an F for the service dept."

"I casted a huge net and got quotes from a lot of companies. AFS sent Eric out to give me a estimate. With in minutes I knew this guy was smarter than the average bear. Some other companies were only there 5 min. This guy clearly had some sort of engineering back ground. The work order he drew up was exactly what I need done no more no less. The total was about a thousand cheaper than every one else. Then came the work crew. You talk about fast and efficient. These guys had everything laid out, unloaded and started digging with in minutes. The Forman went over the game plan and what to expect. 3 hrs later they were done, my house was back perfect, you couldn’t even tell than had been there. AFS Exceeded my expectations from the top to bottom. I wouldn’t let anyone else touch my house but them."

"I bought a house in 2021 that had significant water damage leaking through the walls onto the concrete floor in the basement. After researching multiple companies around the area, I reached out to Basement Gurus. Ashley, Boni, Josh, and owner of the company Dan Kelly, all went above and beyond to make sure that there would be no more water damage. They installed a French drain, vapor barriers, and more. The owner Dan Kelly personally came out to make sure that the work got done correctly. This company is the best around, you won't be disappointed."

"The entire staff from beginning to end have been wonderful! The crew that came to my house were the most polite group of guys, their parents would be proud! Everything was please and thank-you ....which along with craftsmanship, goes a long way when interacting with a company that you hire to do work in your home. Also, this company overall had the best warranty of those that we had come into our house to look at the job."

"We just got our basement remodeled by Blue Ridge Builders and we are extremely satisfied with their performance. The basement looks outstanding and the finish mirrors that of our main floor upstairs. We could not have hired a better builder. Wayne and his crew demonstrated to us that they are real professionals. The structure and finish is solid. My wife and I were looking for honesty, dependability and professionalism; Blue Ridge Builders demonstrated all of the above and more. Thank you so much Wayne. We would definitely recommend Blue Ridge Builders."

House Leveling questions, answered by experts

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Mudjacking can be an expensive foundation repair process, but in many cases, it’s well worth the investment. This is especially true if you’re lifting a portion of sunken foundation slab back into place. In that case, mudjacking can help avoid major structural damage and even home collapse by restoring the integrity of your structure with minimally invasive procedures. Mudjacking a concrete patio, walkway, or sidewalk can be worthwhile because it removes tripping hazards and makes your outdoor area more aesthetically appealing.

Concrete leveling is not typically covered by insurance. In some cases where the shifting concrete is caused by a natural disaster or storm, you may be able to file an insurance claim if your policy specifically covers those circumstances. In most cases, though, you’ll pay out-of-pocket for concrete leveling.

Mudjacking restores level surfaces, prevents further damage, and is more cost-effective than a full replacement.

The timeframe is generally a few hours, allowing for immediate use post-hydration, ensuring minimal disruption to surrounding activities.
