"Alex responded promptly to my request for an estimate and was able to provide me with one immediately after evaluating the site and job we wanted done. I thought the price was fair and in line with the other estimates, his responsiveness was top notch and he was almost immediately available. Once we agreed on hiring him, he and his team were able to start within the same week. We had an excellent experience throughout the process and he was able to quickly and fairly address any changes to the original plans. The guys were always right on time, incredibly efficient, and left the work area very clean every day after they were done. We have spent more time the last two weeks on our back patio than we have on our deck in any given year. He gave us an estimate on a Tuesday, we hired him the following Monday, they started on Saturday, and finished on Wednesday. I wish I had more work for them to do, and would certainly recommend Alex Masonry."

"R&M Masonry was quick to reach out to review the work and provide a quote at a fair price. Project was completed shortly after that and covered everything we agreed to. The workers took extra precautions to keep the work area clean and be mindful of our home. Would definitely recommend them for masonry projects."

"We had a great experience with Arnold's Masonry. After interviewing several local masons, we chose Arnold to build a concrete sidewalk from our front steps to our driveway. We hired Arnold for his obvious knowledge, expertise, and experience. There was excellent communication and customer service throughout the process. We love our new sidewalk, and we highly recommend Arnold's Masonry!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Unexpected expenses during masonry work stem from hidden structural issues. Contractors discover severe freeze-thaw damage, hollow mortar joints, or water-damaged framing behind the brickwork. Older homes in CT require specific handling for lead paint and asbestos. You will also encounter added expenses for necessary permits, required inspections, chimney liner replacements, and sourcing custom materials to match historical brickwork.

Helpful?

Address active water infiltration, leaning retaining walls, and structurally damaged chimneys immediately to prevent severe property damage and safety hazards. Fix heaved walkways right away to eliminate dangerous winter slip risks. Conversely, defer minor cosmetic mortar deterioration or surface staining until spring. Scheduling non-urgent masonry work during warmer CT weather ensures proper curing and avoids the complexities of winter construction.

Helpful?

Repairing existing structures is more cost-effective than full replacement for masonry work in Seymour. Repointing chimneys and brick facades extends their lifespan and avoids the expense of complete demolition. Local professionals match historical lime-based mortars perfectly to preserve older homes. However, you must replace severely deteriorated retaining walls or chimneys to maintain structural safety and comply with local building codes.

Helpful?

Keep children and pets indoors during masonry work to protect them from hazardous silica dust. Secure the work zone with temporary fencing to block access to dangerous excavations and caustic, uncured concrete. If your Seymour home predates 1978, hire certified professionals to manage toxic lead paint safely. Finally, inspect disturbed stone areas for displaced ticks, pests, and wildlife during warmer months.

Helpful?

Completing masonry work projects enhances your home's comfort and safety in Seymour. Foundation repairs block water infiltration from the Naugatuck River valley, reducing dampness and mold risks. Restoring chimneys improves heating efficiency during cold CT winters. Furthermore, fixing retaining walls manages drainage, and repairing walkways eliminates dangerous ice hazards. Properly sealed brickwork also stops drafts, keeping your living space warm and secure.
