They kept the worksite clean and finished on time. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and skilled masonry work! I plan to hire them again to do my patio and outdoor kitchen"

"R&M Masonry was quick to reach out to review the work and provide a quote at a fair price. Project was completed shortly after that and covered everything we agreed to. The workers took extra precautions to keep the work area clean and be mindful of our home. Would definitely recommend them for masonry projects."

"They really did an excellent job on my front walkway. We had a stone walkway installed. They were easy to work with, kind, professional, hard working, and efficient. I felt like they communicated very well with me throughout the process. Very thankful to have gone with Ben's Masonry for our project! Would highly recommend!"

"General Masonry is the only place anyone should ever call for any kind of masonry work. Period. Andi and his workers were beyond amazing. First, Andi came out multiple times because we werenâ t really sure of what we wanted. We basically asked him what we should do with the area as we didnâ t really know what would be best. Then after we decided what we wanted it took us a while to decide to do it (we did a huge project). We got a handful of quotes for the work and he was not only one of the least expensive he also made us feel the most comfortable that is would be done right. The first time Andi came out he gave us his license number and had his insurance company email ME to prove he had insurance. No other company did any of this. He completed the project in two weeks which was incredible. Andi even came on his own on the weekend to make sure the project was finished in a timely manner. He went above and beyond by putting lights in, and when I didnâ t like something we had planned, he changed it. The work done is beautiful and they left the place immaculate. Before they were even done we decided to do other projects around the property for him to do, because he is JUST THAT GOOD. More than any of the above I would never use anyone else because of the professionalism and kindness of Andi. I donâ t consider him someone I hired to do a job, I consider him a friend. If you are looking to do your pool, walkway, stairs or anything else if you donâ t contact General Masonry you are wasting your time and money and you are just wrong. PERIOD"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Bridgeport prioritize restoring original brick and brownstone facades to preserve historic architectural character. Natural stone retaining walls are highly sought after for managing sloped residential lots. Brick and bluestone walkways remain top choices for front entryways. Permeable masonry paving is another major trend, as it allows stormwater to drain efficiently. During chimney rebuilds, many residents add decorative caps and corbeling to match their home’s classic Victorian style.

Helpful?

Prioritize repairing a concrete foundation or brick base immediately to stop water infiltration and structural damage. Next, schedule a comprehensive chimney inspection before using any heating appliances. Repair cracked front steps and walkways to eliminate tripping hazards worsened by Bridgeport freeze-thaw cycles. Apply parging and waterproof coatings to basement walls to block coastal moisture. Finally, verify that all previous masonry work on the property has closed building permits.

Helpful?

Masonry work in older Bridgeport homes directly impacts other systems. Repairing a foundation shifts load distribution, altering floor levelness and door alignment. Chimney repairs alter draft efficiency and carbon monoxide safety for your heating system. Opening walls to fix water leaks exposes outdated wiring or inadequate insulation requiring mandatory upgrades. Always hire a local professional to locate underground sewer lines before digging near your foundation to prevent utility damage.

Helpful?

A standard kitchen countertop installation takes one to two days on-site in CT, while bathroom vanities finish in under a day. Before installation, local fabrication requires one to three weeks. Specialty imported stones add two to four weeks to your timeline. Schedule your marble and granite service during the fall or mid-winter to avoid the busy spring backlog. Keep in mind that structural modifications require extra time for municipal permits.

Helpful?

Select domestically sourced New England granite for faster delivery and excellent climate suitability. High-traffic kitchens benefit from granite's superior resistance to etching. For older CT homes, honed marble finishes hide wear beautifully in bathrooms. Always apply a penetrating sealer rated for high-moisture environments to protect the stone from coastal humidity. Ensure all adhesives and setting materials for your marble and granite service comply with state building codes.
