"Al was fantastic! He clearly explained that my fireplace was shutting off as a safety feature due to low oxygen levels. He also reassembled the logs in the firebox and showed me the proper way to start and stop the fireplace. Highly recommend his service!"

"I hired North American chimney and gutter to clean a wood-burning stove that vented through a brick chimney I knew I had some brick work that needed to be done they did the work the same day and the price was very reasonable the technicians we're very knowledgeable and explained everything to me where I could understand the work was done they would meet and cleaned up after themselves you would have never known they were there with the exception of I had a nice clean wood stove and my chimney was as good as new I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who needs a cleaning of a fireplace wood stove or any repair"

"I had to have emergency repair work done on my oil burner chimney because of water damage. They did it instantly. Also think price was good, since they cleaned the other two chimneys I have (pellet stove, fireplace) free of charge after fixing oil burner chimney. I highly recommend them. I’m very happy."

"Saul is a consummate professional, incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and hardworking. He thoroughly inspected my fireplace, the crawlspace where my boiler/furnace are, and the chimney from the roof. In explaining the job to me, he also provided some tips for a more efficient use of my fireplace. He gave me an extremely good quote on a substantial chimney rebuild, and came to do the work the next day. Over two days, Saul worked tirelessly to rebuild the chimney, and left the area immaculate afterwards. He is coming back in a few days to install a new cap and to clean my fireplace and and oil flue as part of the job. I had two roofing companies out to my house the next day and both raved about how good my chimney looked. I recommend Chimney Safe 100% and look forward to working with them again should the need arise."

Small jobs welcome

"Ben and his team get a solid 5 stars. They just completed a 17x20 Bluestone terrace, extended the coping around my pool with bluestone and built a beautiful custom fireplace. Very professional, great craftsmanship and reasolonable price. I interviewed three masons for the job and I am sure I picked the right one. Very pleased!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

To reset an electric fireplace, first shut the unit off using the control panel or remote control. Make sure the unit is entirely shut down, then unplug it from the power outlet. Wait five to 10 minutes, then plug the fireplace back in and turn it on. This process should reset the electric fireplace. After resetting, make sure to set the thermostat, timer, and other programmable settings to suit your preferences.

The timeframe for a gas fireplace installation typically ranges from 1 to 7 days, depending on the complexity of the project. A basic installation with gas line connections and venting may take 1-3 days, whereas a more involved project that includes framing and masonry work can take 3-7 days.

The time required for a chimney inspection depends on the inspection level. A Level 1 inspection typically takes between 45 minutes and two hours, with an average of about an hour and a half. A Level 2 inspection usually takes less than two hours. A more in-depth Level 3 inspection can take up to five hours, or even multiple days if it requires removing materials. The total duration also depends on the chimney's size, condition, and how long it has been since its last inspection; chimneys with severe damage will require a longer inspection.

Some people don’t like the look of gas fireplaces since they don’t offer the classic charm or appeal of a wood-burning fire. Plus, gas fireplace installation is more expensive than other types of fireplace installations due to the added complexity of working with gas lines. There’s also a chance that gas could get into your home, which is a major health and safety risk.

In addition to flashing, a roof cricket can help divert water around your chimney so that it drains properly off your roof. It’s shaped like a double triangle and is installed behind the chimney so that falling water spills evenly down each side. This helps prevent water from accumulating behind your chimney, which can increase water damage and the risk of leaks.

The International Building Code (IBC) requires cricket installation if a chimney built after 2012 measures over 30 inches in width. Chimneys constructed before that date are typically grandfathered in and aren’t required to have crickets installed.
