"Martin and his crew completed ten very involved projects for us today. We are very pleased with the work as it was done in a very professional manner. Martin indicated they could complete the jobs in one day and they accomplished this. The jobs involved power washing, painting, repair of towel bar, grouting, fixing hinges on a door, repair of garage door frame and cleaning of spindles on the porch. We told Martin that we were very happy with the results and would call him in the future for other projects that might be needed. Richard Huckstadt 5/19/26."

"Gary and his team were on time, professional and completed the work as planned. Very reasonably priced. We had a long list of items that his team was able to complete quickly, including an octagonal window replacement, drywall and molding replacement, deck repair, door jam repair and caulking. I strongly recommend Gary and his team. The communication before, during and after was also just right."

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

Rates vary by task complexity and time, often providing cost-effective solutions for homeowners.

A contractor specializes in a specific field. They often operate in teams where they have subcontractors to handle specialized problems. So if you have significant plumbing, drywall, or roofing issues, you’ll want to hire a contractor, as the job may require a team.

A handyperson is typically one person who works on whatever jobs come their way. You wouldn’t call a contractor to fix the hinges on cabinets or paint your room. Instead, a handyperson can handle all these issues, saving you from making multiple phone calls.

While handypeople do not need to be licensed in many places, you should only hire insured pros for any home improvement work. Your handyperson should have active liability coverage that protects them and you in the case of an error or accident. Furthermore, if they have employees on your property, they should also have workers’ compensation insurance. If you hire an individual or a company that is not insured and they damage your property, have an accident while on the job, or become injured on your property without insurance, you can be held financially liable.

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).

You can tackle hanging Christmas lights yourself with the right tools, accessories, and a trusted friend or neighbor. You’ll need to purchase a ladder ($100 to $300), clips ($10 to $20), hooks ($10 to $15), and lights ($25 to $100 per string).

Otherwise, you should hire a trusted holiday light installer near you. You’ll pay an average price of $200 to $650, but you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the job is done correctly and safely.
