"Whitcomb and Holmes Co. is a A++ business to work with. Chad and Joe are extremely knowledgeable with commercial construction and eager to help in any way to make sure the project goes smooth and on target for the completion date. "The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"I met Wes on Angies list last year, so I'm a happy repeat customer, and I will call him again. This time I had some challenging upper kitchen cabenets that I started to do myself, and set up the first corner cabinet and said self, you'd better call Wes, (my 1920 house predates thstraight lines). They came out beautiful! Call Amy and Wes, you'll be happier than you expected to be.

"I cannot say enough about Bob. I've used him for many years. I feel that his work is extraordinarily good and his fees are not outrageous. I can trust him and leave him in the house even when we are at work. He will even let the dog out for us. He didn't even charge me for the cabinets, he wanted to take them back to the original maker since he recommended the maker, he didn't want to charge for taking them back or reinstalling them. He always backs up his work to the people he refers us to. He's impeccably neat with his clean up! He will even take his shoes off when he comes into the house, so he doesn't track anything in the house. It was important to us that he is an animal lover, when they were updating our house I had trust that the animals were fine."

"Brian and his team did a very thorough job replacing the roof. The team stripped off the old roof quickly and kept the surrounding area clean. Brian paid particular attention to getting the job done in a way that would prevent damage from ice dams. The lead flashing he did around the chimney looks like it was done by a real artisan. New gutters, downspouts, and leaf-guards were installed with high quality materials an attention to detail."

"No 2-hr. presentation to sit through. No sales-speak. Just a small contracting company bent on doing quality work for an affordable price! Start your search by calling Karol Kurkowski of KBK Construction and save yourself a lot of time. 9 times out of 10, he'll answer the phone! Who does that these days? Karol and/or Zibi were on site every day usually starting at 8:30am. Being an old house, nothing was square. It was necessary to pour a self-leveling concrete floor, which took a few days to dry. Even so, they completed the whole job, surprises and all, in under 2 weeks. Many people like tile. I'm not one of them. I wanted a MAAX 80" acrylic tub wall kit, from tub to ceiling. Who knew that it would be so difficult to find a contractor to install it? I'm so grateful that Karol agreed to and did a fine job. Besides doing quality work for a reasonable price, they were a pleasure to work with - always polite and conscientious, and cleaning up at the end of each day."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

The term “cottage” is subjective, so there’s no rigid definition, but it generally refers to a small home with simple and purposeful architecture that embraces nature and focuses on charm over everything else. Cottages are typically 1 or 1 1/2-stories tall, usually with gabled roofs, and are built out of natural materials that help make the structure a part of the surrounding nature rather than something that stands out from it. A big part of what makes a cottage a cottage is the decor, which includes natural materials from the nearby area.

Yes, such as using eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient designs for long-term savings.

Custom homes can take an average of 18 months to build, mainly due to the lengthy design process, and most projects take somewhere between 12 and 24 months. When you work with the right custom home builders near you, they can help you map the road ahead and understand what can speed up or delay the timeline. Choosing locally available materials, for example, can speed things up without losing that customized touch.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

A contractor can install your shipping container home in as little as 90 days. This is notably quick compared to a traditional home build, which can take more than a year (providing there aren’t permitting or construction delays that make the wait even longer). For the quickest installation, choose a prefab container home.
