"The nicest young man. Work was done quickly and exceeded my expectations wholly. Quick quote and very reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to use his services again. I'm already thinking of new projects and will go to A&K first. Highly recommended."

"Able Roofing is fantastic. Chris, the owner, was quick to come out and give an estimate. He was very thorough talking me through his estimate along the way and explaining what he'd like to do, what might be a problem, and why. It was very helpful as a new home-owner. Within a week he was working on the roof, and did a great job. He and his team were done in about a day. My roof looks great, and I'm very happy with the job."

"We were so impressed with All Season’s Maintenance, and with each job they did! They are professional and talented and offer up great suggestions. They also listen to you and understand what it is you are looking for. They are very trust-worthy and neat about their work. They are extremely hard-working and can be counted on to arrive on-time and finish the job when they say they will. Communication is very good Leo gets right back to you. Our experience was so positive that we have hired All Season’s Maintenance to continue weigh our weekly mowing, etc. Give them a try, you will be so glad that you did!"

"Dirk was the first contractor to call us back, to look at the job, and to quote on it. He was also the only contractor who offered to cover everything we have stored up in our entire attic with huge sheets of plastic before the job and then clean it up after. From the inside, other than the fresh plywood, you couldn't tell there had been so much demo work. Dirk is that meticulous and crazy about quality. Everything has to be “just so.” You pay a little more for that, but the peace of mind is worth it. For example, he removed our cupola and weathervane, brought it home, rebuilt and painted it, and reinstalled it. Dirk has a degree in engineering, but decided early in life he needed to apply that knowledge by working with his hands and not in an office. He’s a talkative guy, and came across to us as genuine and caring. We would use him again."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

That depends on the size of your snow blower and how efficiently it uses fuel. Most snow blowers will last between 1 and 2 hours on a full tank of gas. Larger blowers tend to use fuel more quickly and need refilling more often.

Keep in mind, the average snow blowing project for a home driveway takes around 30 minutes. Large driveways and yards will take around an hour. A full tank of gas should be more than enough for snow removal, although the height of the snowfall will have an effect, too.

A common mistake is you can let snow melt naturally in a window well. However, snow buildup in the well can damage your window frames and walls. The melting snow also poses risks of water damage as it may leak through into the basement. It’s important to shovel snow out of your window wells before too much snow is piled in there.

The process to winterize your landscaping depends on the plants you have, but generally speaking, you should rake your lawn to avoid leaves from smothering your grass and leading to mold and fungi growth, wrap young trees to protect from fluctuating temperatures, and fertilize your lawn to provide some nutrients for the grass through the colder temperatures. You can also consider marking off small trees and shrubs to avoid accidentally damaging them with snow removal tools.

There is no hard and fast rule about using a snowblower on a specific amount of inches, but most snow removal experts suggest using one on 2 or more inches of snow for best results. This will also depend on what type of surface you’re working on and whether the snow is dry or wet.

Some commercial services use sand when clearing ice, but that’s to add instant traction, not to melt the ice. While you can scatter kitty litter, sand, or similar substances on steps, paths, or porches to improve safety during icy conditions, they won’t help melt hardened ice. Rely on salt or other de-icing methods to fully melt away stubborn ice.
