"I highly recommend Guarco Construction. Carl Guarco and his crew just completed paving and curbing my parents' long, steep, curving driveway -- not an easy job. They dug up and removed the old asphalt, gave extra attention to preparing the bed, paved the main driveway, installed curbing and a secondary driveway/parking spot. Carl kept me well informed during the entire process and always responded to my calls and questions right away. The driveway looks beautiful. I would definitely hire Guarco Construction again for other paving work."

"I have working with EC Paving & Maintenance for the last 3 years. They have paved 5 driveways for me in Hartford, Windsor, Bloomfield, and East Hartford. This company is a Class Act from start to finish! Jay, in the office, is super nice person, & very thoroughly answered all my questions & concerns. Jay also came out to do the estimates for me. And Ed the owner who works with and supervises the asphalt crew, I can't say enough on how personable, accommodating, and professional everyone at EC Paving & Maintenance is! The best part is their workmanship and attention to detail!! The driveways were always grated and pitched appropriately in all areas, for proper drainage. EC Paving & Maintenance offers superior results at a very competitive price. Highly recommend you choose them to replace your driveway!!! "I recently hired Allied Paving for paving and seal coating services, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the results. From start to finish, their team was professional, punctual, and highly skilled. They provided a clear and detailed estimate, explaining every step of the process and ensuring there were no surprises. The quality of their workmanship is outstanding—the paved surface is smooth, durable, and expertly finished. The seal coating not only enhanced the appearance but also provided excellent protection against wear and weather. They used high-quality materials, and it’s clear they take pride in their work. Customer service was top-notch, with great communication and a friendly crew that respected my property and cleaned up thoroughly after the job was done. I highly recommend Allied to anyone looking for reliable and professional paving or seal coating services. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

A 500-square-foot driveway can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $35,000, depending on the type of pavers you choose. Grass and concrete pavers are more affordable, while stone and cobblestone pavers are on the higher end of that price range. You’ll save some money by DIYing the installation, though we highly recommend sticking with a professional for this type of driveway installation.

If your new pavers look dull or unclean, it is likely due to efflorescence, a chalky, white powder that forms when lime in the pavers gets wet. This condition often resolves on its own, as rain will naturally wash it away within about a year. For faster results, you can use a pressure washer to clean the pavers. Alternatively, consider using cleaning products specifically designed to remove efflorescence or applying sulfuric acid crystals.

Although you could try to lay stepping stones directly over grass, which speeds up the installation process significantly, this method often leads to a poor result over time. Even heavy paver stones will eventually slide or shift on top of the grass. Digging into the ground and following the steps we listed is the best way to lay stepping stones for a long-lasting result.

Yes, a paved or repaved driveway can boost your home's value by increasing its curb appeal and the functionality of your outdoor space. A new driveway can add anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 to a property's value. An old, crumbling driveway can be a red flag for potential buyers and inspectors.

The amount of value added depends on the materials used, the design, and local market conditions. Concrete is often cited as adding the most value due to its long lifespan, though asphalt may be more desirable in colder climates. The return on investment is greatest when replacing a driveway that is in poor condition; repaving a driveway that is already in good shape will not yield as significant an increase in value.

Quality pavers and correct installation handle temperature variations. Proper maintenance is crucial in severe climates to prevent issues like heaving.
