"after reading several reviews of businesses capable of handling pests, i contacted al and he got back to me right away. my wife and i were very concerned  we may have had termites in the wall near the front door, as we were seeing black insects flying around & could hear bugs making a munching sound through the drywall. i sent pictures to al of the location of the 2 nests, one near the front door & the other in  a very awkward location on the 2nd story of the house near a gutter, as well as a strange looking tubular cement structure on the back of my house under our addition. al emailed me back, assuring us he would take a look at it when he came to the house and that he could take care of it.
al gave us a window of time between 10-11am. he arrived on time and within minutes determined the 2 nests were not wasps or termites (we were worried & calculating the cost of tearing down a wall), that they were hornets and that he could take care of it. he checked our basement (just in case) for any signs of termites and assured us we had a sound home. he also told us the tubular cement structures on the back of the house were mud dauber wasps and they were harmless and he knocked them down.
he said he could spray both nests for $150 and we agreed. relieved we didn't have termites and comforted by al's easy & caring demeanour. it didn't even cross our mind to get a quote with someone else. al was there, and we felt he had a good & trustworthy character about him. i've already referred him to co-workers and i would use ask for his help again should we feel the treat of buggy invaders.

"We hired Matt from Bearclaw for mouse prevention in our new house, and he did a fantastic job sealing up all sorts of potential entry points and laying traps, then came back 2 months later to check in. He was great and the peace of mind is SO worth it!"

"My house is near the beach with near constant moisture which is well controlled inside. Outside I had an infestation of a very difficult to kill insect that had started to encroach inside as the population exploded.. Alpha came out and treated the property inside and out. They guaranteed their work and told me they would be back in two weeks at no additional charge. They were at the house a total of 3 times to make sure the job was done right. Not only did they earn a life long customer but they did what two other major pest companies failed to do because these bugs are very difficult to exterminate. 10/10 recommend this fantastic team both in the field and in customer service with coordination. ."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Common house roaches, typically American cockroaches or Periplaneta americana, usually live for around one year. The male American cockroaches survive for about one year, although the females may live up to 700 days. That’s because the reproductive cycle alone can last around 600 days for this type of cockroach.

Some birds of prey, like owls, hunt at night. Hawks are diurnal and need good light to see their prey. You could see them circling anytime from dawn to dusk. Species like the common red-tailed hawk are most active in the early morning and late evening when their prey is also typically on the go.

Groundhogs are non-aggressive animals that are afraid of humans. They forage for vegetation in yards and gardens, so they can often be seen as a nuisance if you spot one on your property. That said, if you happen to get bitten or scratched by a fearful groundhog, be sure to get checked by a doctor, as they could carry infections or diseases like rabies, Lyme, or the rare tularemia.

Having bugs in our houses is quite normal. However, if you notice a sudden uptick in quantity, there's often a reason behind it. Seasonal weather changes, particularly warm to cool, drive bugs indoors as they look for comfort. Structural damage to your home can open up new ways for them to get in, and a new water leak somewhere in the house can invite them to get comfortable.

Squirrels rely heavily on their sense of smell and are deterred by a variety of scents. Some of the most effective smells for repelling them include peppermint oil, coffee grounds, white vinegar, garlic, cinnamon, rosemary, and predator urine. They also have a strong aversion to capsaicin, the compound that makes chili peppers hot, making capsaicin-based sprays an effective repellent for areas like gardens or bird feeders. For a DIY solution, you can create a spray from garlic and vinegar and apply it daily. Additionally, squirrels dislike strong, fresh scents, so placing items like strong-smelling soaps or dryer sheets in areas they frequent can also help keep them away.
