"Service Date: 04/29/2021 Review: John from Artistree was great! He removed two large trees and did a structural trim on another and we could not be happier. From the start, John was a pleasure to work with. He was generous with his time on a free consultation, and very knowledgeable about every kind of tree on our property (at least 10 different types). I appreciated his honesty about which trees needed work, and which ones could wait. When it came time to do the work, he was very professional and skilled up in the trees, maintained good safety practices, and did a fantastic cleanup job at the end. The trimmed maple looks so healthy and beautiful now! You can just tell that John has a passion for making trees look great. He will definitely be our first call for all of our future tree projects!"

"They projected 2 days to complete the project and finished (Including clean up) right on time...They literally climbed both trees dismantling them limb by limb. I was quite impressed on how skillfully the team of 4 worked together dismantling the many giant branches safely to the ground with no injuries or damage to property despite the close proximity of the two houses... The gang of 4 also included an ISA Certified Arborist who was very helpful in explaining the poor health of the trees and suggesting alternate trees to be planted in the future...I would definitely hire this ‘highly skilled’ and friendly crew again...."

"Luke is extremely professional and the service that he provided was timely and well done. He communicates well and we always knew when our work was going to start and finish. Afterwards he communicated with us concerning the job and whether or not we had any concerns or were pleased with the job. If we had had some issues he would have immediately come to fix them but we were very satisfied with the job. I would recommend Luke’s service to anybody."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

You can use a felling ax to chop down a tree by following the same prep and steps as a chainsaw, but be prepared to use some muscle. For trees bigger than 7 inches in diameter, it can take some time and serious strength to cut down a tree using just an ax.

Trees are beneficial to the environment and wildlife. If you have an old tree, but it’s healthy, it may be best to avoid cutting it down. However, if it’s showing signs of bug infestation, disease, or is potentially hazardous, then you should contact a tree removal company to cut it down.

If you are unsure whether you should have it removed or not, then speak with an arborist to determine what is best.

If it’s only a smaller branch that has died and you’re keeping an eye on the tree, it’s probably nothing to worry about. But if other nearby branches start dying off as well, or a very large branch dies, then you likely have a bigger problem. It’s time to watch for diseases and other problems and possibly get professional guidance on how to proceed.

Unfortunately, if you cut the top off a palm tree, it will die. Instead of budding or branching out, the top begins to slowly rot. That's why having a professional tree trimming at least twice a year is a good idea. If you don’t have experience with trimming your palm tree, you might accidentally cut the top off, leaving a dead and rotting tree in your wake.
