Small jobs welcome

"I originally contacted Jason for pricing to clean up my crawl space, remove & add new vapor barrier and "rehab" 30 year old crawl space insulation. Jason suggested I remove old crawl space insulation, add new vapor barrier then spray foam to walls & rim joints. I also requested he price adding insulation to my 30 year old attic. His pricing was competitive (I had 2 other bids) and his helpful attitude, knowledge, & practical solutions left me feeling he would do the job and do it right. As with most contruction related projects, then the hiccups begin....his challenge on my job included a tight attic and, as he ultimately discovered, all soffit vents that had been blocked for 30 years with original insulation. With the roof ridge vent, I had to have clear soffit vents. Jason and crew cleaned out the blockage, installed baffles at the vents, then added insulation. The job was DONE RIGHT! Jason and company stayed with the challenge and did so with an incredibly positive 'I do it like it's my home' attitude. They were always on time, neat, pleasant and left my home clean as a whistle. If I could give him 10 stars, I would. I would hire him, again, without hesitation."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

Most professionals can install a window well in two to three days, depending on the size of the well and the window you want inside it. If you’re just replacing an existing window well, the work is much less intensive, and most experts can get the job done in just one day. Connecting the window well to a drainage system or installing a custom concrete window well will naturally take longer, but even the most complicated installations shouldn’t take more than three days.

Because egress windows are meant for emergency exiting and entering, they need to be an accessible size. The smallest an egress window is allowed to be is 15 inches in width and height, with an opening of around 4 square feet.

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

The proper way to install a window well is to measure the window, dig a hole deeper and wider than the window, place a drainage tube and cap, anchor the well to the foundation, caulk the seam, and backfill the hole. The job requires tools such as a hammer drill and auger and some heavy digging. Proper placement and window well installation are critical to preventing water from leaking into the window.
