"Roberto was awesome to work with! His team did great work and blew in extra insulation, installed baffles, and insulated our basement concrete wall as well. He was knowledgeable and came in at a much lower price than the other person that bid us. (Like seriously 5x cheaper than other services recommended which were probably overkill for what our needs were)."

"Jose and Jorge are top notch, I would highly recommend for your insulation needs! From beginning to end they are very quick and responsive…from the estimate, to getting scheduled, and getting the work done. I had several quotes from different companies, and some of the other “5 ⭐️ “ companies (top of the list when you google search) tried to upsell sell me, and were nearly double the price. When Jose did my estimate inspection, I asked about some of the items the other guys were trying to upsell me on. Jose insisted I didn’t need some of the items trying to be upsold to me and explained why (even though J&D offered those services). Lastly, my job ended up requiring more insulation than initially thought, and Jose honored the price he quoted, he didn’t try to bait and switch me on the price. If you’re looking for top notch work, at a fraction of the price of the other guys, don’t hesitate to book these guys."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

An insulated garage door is a great long-term investment if it’s within your budget. They save energy and give the door year-round usability. In other words, the door pays for itself after a few nasty winters. Most modern garage doors already have a fair amount of insulation, so look into those options if you don’t feel comfortable splurging.

Natural fiber batts and spray foam insulation both work great for soundproofing. Newer materials, such as hemp batts, are more expensive but more effective for insulation and sound blocking. They are also more sustainable. There is also a professional system called Blow-In Blanket Insulation (BIBS) that is soundproof and moisture-resistant. However, BIBS must be installed professionally and can be a costly investment.

One of the disadvantages of soffit vents is they can bleed warm air from the attic during winter, resulting in slightly higher energy bills and a colder house. There are ways to mitigate this effect—mostly just closing the vent in the fall. What’s most important is your attic is ventilated to some degree in the winter.

The ideal temperature for your garage in the winter is between 40 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintaining a minimum temperature of at least 40 to 50 degrees is crucial to prevent pipes, liquids, and other items from freezing. Low temperatures can also drain your car battery, so keeping the garage stable is vital for your vehicle. While the lower end of the range protects your belongings, the higher end is based on your personal preference for a comfortable space. If you struggle to keep the temperature from dropping below 40 degrees, consider installing a garage heater.

While fiberglass is dangerous to work with, it’s a perfectly safe material once it’s installed. If you’re tackling the installation yourself, make sure you take the proper safety precautions and wear the right gear to avoid skin and eye irritation and lung complications. Working with a professional insulation company can mitigate these risks.
