"Ray the owner was on time, worked fast and did a great job. Our house will sell better because of our sparkling windows. He was friendly and even washed the two little windows on our shed for no charge that were not included in the bid.Our bid also included cleaning out our window wells and cleaning those windows. He did an excellent job. His prices are low. He is a veteran and hires veterans in his business. I would definitely recommend this company for windows and gutter cleaning."

Small jobs welcome

"This team was awesome! They spent a good amount of time on the initial cleaning of our house. I was very impressed. I’ve asked to be put on a regular cleaning schedule with this company since they did such a fantastic job. It’s only been one time they’ve cleaned but judging by the thorough job, I highly recommend them!!"

"Felipe and his installing crew did a fantastic job on my Decra stone coated steel roof. I had four companies provide estimates in November. Felipe did a thorough inspection and made a couple of suggestions for replacing the skylight, gutters and downspouts. When I received his estimate all of this was included at a price comparable to the others without the extras. I didn't start the project until April and the price was the same. Victor and the installing crew were very professional and methodical in their work. When the project was finished they did an excellent job of cleaning up everything, like they hadn't been here at all. Super happy with our new roof and the job done by Flash Roofing . Highly recommended!"

"Starlight sent two dependable employees, who were diligent about getting our deck and fence power washed the first day. They returned the next day to spray (fence) and brush (deck) with the stain. Both were conscientious about their work, careful to protect our property and cleaned up after the job was completed. I would not hesitate to recommend Starlight Restoration!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The average cost to professionally clean or pressure wash a deck is around $150, with prices typically ranging from $100 to $600. Several factors influence the final price, including the deck's size, material, condition, and how long it has been since its last cleaning. For a smaller deck of about 300 square feet, you might pay around $100. For a larger deck of 1,000 square feet or more, the cost could be closer to $300 to $400. Decks that are very dirty or haven't been cleaned in years may require more time and special detergents, which will increase the price. The deck's material also plays a role. Wood decks often cost more to clean because they require a gentle power washing technique to avoid damage. Composite decks are typically less expensive to clean, and cleaning a metal deck may cost around $100.

In most cases, there should be a small gap between the house and the deck, usually no more than ½ to ¾ of an inch. This space allows water and moisture to flow through instead of pooling against the side of your house. It also lets flashing protect your siding from runoff, which is one of the most common issues with decks.

Yes, deck pier blocks can be used as an alternative to traditional deck footings, especially for smaller or low-to-the-ground decks. Unlike poured concrete and buried post footings, deck blocks do not require digging or pouring. However, their use is dependent on local building codes. Some areas, particularly those prone to high winds, earthquakes, or hurricanes, may not permit the use of deck pier blocks. It is essential to consult your local building codes before choosing them for your deck project.

Yes. Composite decking is resistant to moisture and freezing temperatures, so it’s an ideal material to use in particularly cold or damp seasons. You can install this type of decking throughout the year since it does not warp or split in the cold.

Most building codes require that railing spindles (also known as balusters) on decks or stairs be spaced no more than four inches apart. This safety standard is often called the '4-inch sphere rule,' which means a sphere with a 4-inch diameter should not be able to pass through the opening between balusters. This rule is in place to prevent small children and pets from slipping through the railing. For the same reason, the space between the bottom rail and the deck or floor surface should also be no more than four inches. As a general guideline, professionals often install three balusters per foot of railing. However, since specific requirements can vary by location, it is essential to check your local building codes to ensure compliance before starting your project.
