"What a great company to work with. Excellent job and great, really hard working crew. Took down and hauled away the old 6 ft. fence in back and old picket fence in front. Installed a new 6 ft. vinyl fence and new vinyl picket fence in record time. It's beautiful. Plus the best customer service in the world. If you need a fencing contractor, do yourself a favor and get a quote from Tail End Fencing."

"This is the second time using D&D Fence. 1st time, they installed a new cedar privacy fence for me and did a fantastic job! I moved and the last two storms we had blew down our fence, breaking multiple posts. Because of their previous work, I did not hesitate calling Adrian and D&D Fence. He responded quickly with an on-site estimate and got his crew out to our house with-in a few days. They did a professional and great job! They removed old posts and concrete and left the area clean. Highly recommend them!!!!!!!!"

"Jason Naylor of Trojan Construction did an excellent job on my fence project! He responded quickly to my request for services, set up an appointment the next day to come look at my project and sent me a reasonable estimate promptly, and he was able to schedule the work within a few days. He arrived on time each day and completed the project right on schedule. I am really impressed with the craftsmanship and care he put into my fence build, from the precision install, the attention to details, and the beautiful, finished project. It's like an art piece in my front yard! It is very solid and study, and I know it will stand up to the winds that routinely blast through my property, as well as my crafty dog who liked to find ways to wiggle through my old fence to go on adventures. I have another project I plan hire Jason for in the near future. You will not go wrong hiring Jason and Trojan Construction for all your fencing needs! Thank you, Jason, for a job well done!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Whether you need a permit to build or install a fence depends on several factors, including your location, the fence's height, its placement in your yard, and the materials used. In many cities and highly populated areas, a permit is required, especially for fences taller than 6 feet. Conversely, rural areas may have fewer restrictions. Typically, backyard privacy fences 6 feet or shorter do not require a permit, while front yard fences often have a lower height limit, sometimes as low as 3.5 feet. There can also be exceptions for properties in mixed residential-commercial zones. It's best to check with your local building inspection or zoning department to understand the specific requirements, height restrictions, and location rules for your area. A professional fence installer can help you navigate this process and often secure the necessary permits for you, though this may extend the project timeline.

Regular staining, sealing, and inspecting for rot or insect damage prolongs fence lifespan.

The decision to add a dog fence to your property depends on several factors. A fence can be a good investment for pet safety, particularly in areas with hazards like busy roads. It helps contain dogs prone to roaming or those with a powerful hunting instinct, It also prevents accidents and neighborly disputes if your pet likes to venture onto their property. Also, by installing a traditional fence, you will also gain privacy. Some local regulations may also require homeowners with dogs to install a fence.

You can keep a dog from digging under a fence by filling existing holes in your yard, installing a wire to your fence bottom, burying your fence bottom, making a designated digging spot, and removing visual stimuli. You can also dissuade your dog from wanting to dig under your fence and escape by scheduling more one-on-one playtime and ensuring they are getting enough exercise to keep them stimulated.

A barbed wire fence will last an average of 15 to 20 years, but the life expectancy can range anywhere between five and 50 years. Thicker wires last longer, as do fences made with galvanized metal. If the barbed wire fence is in a climate with harsh winters and summers, it likely won’t last more than 10 to 15 years. Failing to keep up with maintenance and repairs will also shorten the lifespan of a barbed wire fence.
