"Dylan was great! He responded right away, and explained my options clearly. He showed up on time for both the estimate, and for the work. The estimate was very reasonable, and I paid him more than he asked for, because I felt he deserved more. Very pleasant personality, and I enjoyed meeting him. If I ever need an electrician in the future, he would be the guy I’d call for."

"Within 10 minutes if requesting a quote on Angi's John got back to me. Within 36hours , he came to my house at 645am ,before I went to work ,to do a walk. I had a bid that evening . I accepted the bid and 2 days later he got back to me with a date. , exactly 1 week from when I placed the bid request, the day after Memorial Day. He is always 15 minutes early and he had it done with the electric back on in 4 hours. He increased our electric from 100 to 200 amps and installed a surge protector. I am extremely happy."

"I normally don’t leave reviews, but working with Chad and SolarWorksGJ was an amazing experience! He was very well informed and thorough from initial sit down to install. He gave me a great deal on my panels and they look amazing on my roof. Very happy with the experience overall."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Natural gas and electricity rates vary significantly based on location, and pricing can change over time, too. It’s possible that in locations where natural gas is particularly inexpensive, it will cost less than grid-based electricity will. However, you should also factor in the generator’s initial costs and maintenance needs, as well as its noise level and if it can comfortably power all your home appliances.

Energy output depends on turbine size, average wind speed at your site, and system efficiency. A 5 kW turbine in a good wind location can generate 8,000 to 12,000 kilowatt-hours per year, which may cover a large portion of an average home’s needs. Accurate output estimates require a professional wind assessment and a review of your household’s energy usage patterns.

You may need a permit for a portable generator if you’ll be installing a transfer switch for your primary residence or similar work. Otherwise, a permit for other uses may not be necessary. Check your local building codes or ask a local generator installer for more information about your local regulations.

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.

Whole-house generators need to be installed on level ground several feet away from walls and other objects. Because they tap into the electrical system directly, they usually need to be close to your home electrical panel for a transfer switch installation. It also helps with installation if they are near to a gas line or propane tank installation.
