"We had an issue with our Central Air. My sister filled out the form and no sooner than she told me she was trying to get quotes, my phone rang and John was on the other end. He said he could be here in the morning and sure enough, he was. He was very nice and said we may have a leak but he would be back later. He came back and discovered the problem was able to be solved for more than 1/2 the price originally told. He was very accommodating and professional. Took care of us very quickly and we are now back in a cool house. Thank you John!!! You are awesome!!"

"Had several inspections. All said we needed to replace our 22 year old unit. Mark came out, inspected the unit and cleaned one part. It has worked fine since. When the furnace does give up and quit we will give Mark first shot at replacing it. We have hired Mark to service our AC unit for summer use."

"It went extremely well. Our AC unit failed during a bad heat wave, and the people at Airstream handled our emergency with efficiency and professionalism. Although very busy, Robin, the woman who took my call, was responsive and knowledgeable and placed us on the schedule immediately, sending a technician out as soon as possible. It took a couple days, but this was July 4th week, and they were no doubt handling a lot of problems just like mine. The technician arrived at the designated time, diagnosed the problem and drove back to town and got our new fan and returned out and installed it the same day. He was very thorough and helpful, cleaning the unit and then remaining here until he was certain, after tests, the unit was performing correctly. We will keep Airstream's number handy and will call them again for help when the time comes. Very satisfied."

"They were very caring & considerate. When they realized I hadn't any cooling at all they sent one of their men over to my home with a used window air conditioner..to be sure Id be ok in the high heat tht weekend. Tht meant the World to me. Easy to work with especially the receptionist at their main office. I hv recommended them to everyone."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Deciding whether to replace just the AC coil or the entire system depends on the age of your unit and the overall cost. Replacing a coil is less expensive than a full system replacement, but it can still be a pricey repair. If your HVAC system is relatively new and still under warranty, or if the replacement cost is significantly lower than a new system, replacing the coil can be a worthwhile investment that restores efficiency and extends the unit's life. However, for older systems (nearing the end of their 10-15 year lifespan) or those with extensive damage, it is often more cost-effective to replace the entire AC unit. Mismatched coils in an older system can lead to inefficiency and future breakdowns, so a full replacement ensures optimal performance and avoids further costly repairs.

The outdoor portions of air conditioners are designed to weather the rain, so you don’t need to worry about it. An awning or roof will help protect them from snow or falling debris, which can do more damage. This is true of both window AC and outdoor units for larger systems.

While all portable AC units will collect moisture as part of their cooling and dehumidifying process, whether and how often you need to drain them depends on what kind of unit you have and the natural humidity levels where you live. For example, if you live in a very dry area and have a self-evaporating unit, you may not need to drain your portable AC very often at all. Some units may automatically drain collected moisture out the window through their exhaust vent.

The right type of HVAC system will depend on several factors, including your climate, budget, preferences, and existing HVAC setup. For example, if you live in an area that experiences extreme weather, then a split system would likely be the best option. Or, if budget is a concern, consider installing a ductless system in just one room.

No, you don’t need a ductless unit in every room. Ductless AC units don't work the way that window units do, where the air doesn't travel outside that room. The indoor air handlers all attach to the outdoor condenser. While the air doesn't travel the way that traditional ductwork would, the ductless AC units create zones so that one part of the home can be cooler than another. They can spread effectively enough that indoor units only need to be placed in main living areas.
