"We had an exceptional experience with Kind Home Painting. Their whole process is a well oiled machine! From the quote by Dylan, the initial walkthrough with Stephen (our PM) to the actual work and final walkthrough, we were very impressed with their professionalism, knowledge, attention to details, progress pictures, warranty, and pricing. The house looks great. The crew was so fast & efficient. I could not believe how quickly they worked as a team to prep/mask the house for paint, making sure they left no trace of their presence afterwards. I saw one crew member scrubbing a tiny spot of paint off our sidewalk with a scrub brush and water! They painted my house exterior faster than I could finish painting my guest bathroom vanity. I would not hesitate to hire them again and give them my highest recommendation. (We did not have them paint our deck as it's going to be replaced)."
After; What a transformation! Body color is Comfort Gray SW 6205. Trim is Alabaster SW 7008, and Accent is Rookwood Red SW 2802

They carefully removed furniture from my deck, prepared and washed the area, matched my stain color and completed the job quickly in two consecutive days. "We chose Cervantes Alliance Group, LLC for our office and door staining project based on Elier's price (which was fair and consistent with a few other quotes) as well as the amazing reviews about this company.  We are so glad we did!  Elier, and the staining professional from the Cervantes Alliance team that completed the project, were respectful, communicative and thorough!  Elier always took the time to respond to our questions quickly, notified us when he was stopping by to check on the staining progress, and took the time to explain what was happening within the project and answer questions daily. Cervantes Alliance Group, LLC was timely, professional and took care to clean up after the work was completed each day.  The staining turned out beautifully and we are very happy with the work.  We highly recommend Cervantes Alliance Group and hope to work with Elier and his team in the future!  They are amazing!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Yes, professionals offer slip-resistant options for added workplace safety.

The best paint for an older deck depends on the material and whether or not your deck already has a coat of paint. Generally, if your deck already has paint on it, you should choose the same type of paint when repainting the deck. For example, if an old deck has oil-based paint on it, stick with oil; if your deck has water-based paint, choose water-based paint.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.
