Small jobs welcome

"The Western Slope Cleaning Service responded immediately, way before any other business replied to my request for tree removal and carport repair. Lorenzo and George arrived to my property the same day, provided a reasonable estimate before departing. Sent me a written estimate in under 30 minutes, which I approved. Lorenzo and his crew began the next day, despite having to battle chilly and rainy weather. They stuck it out and finished removing two large trees, pressure washed two metal carports, sealed one carport and removed two gate posts for me. The crew did an excellent job cleaning up the site. They were all very polite, cordial and very professional. I will continue to utilize WSCS for a large list of projects needed on my property. Thank you Lorenzo, great job!"

"Would recommend Grover excavating for any of your excavating needs. Pete was very prompt and professional. Took out a large tree from my back yard. Removing the stump was a challenge that he met very well. There was minimal disruption to the rest of my yard. I will hire him for any future needs."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

When hiring a professional for excavating in Grand Junction, verify they are registered as a business entity and carry proper liability and workers' compensation insurance. Your contractor must contact the local utility locator service three days before digging. Choose a local expert familiar with the area's expansive clays and caliche layers to ensure they use the correct equipment and provide accurate timelines for your project.

Helpful?

Address active foundation movement, collapsed sewer lines, and failing septic systems immediately to prevent severe property damage and health hazards in Grand Junction. Correct failed drainage systems before the summer monsoon season arrives. Conversely, schedule elective grading or retaining wall replacements for the fall. Delaying non-urgent excavating work until late fall ensures better contractor availability and ideal dry soil conditions.

Helpful?

During an excavating project in CO, you must identify and disclose any private utilities, like invisible fences or irrigation lines, since public locators do not mark them. You are responsible for deciding whether to keep excavated soil on-site or haul it away. You must also coordinate property access routes and obtain permission if the digging crosses any historic irrigation ditches on your land.

Helpful?

Planning an excavating project requires careful attention to the local climate and soil conditions in CO. Schedule work to avoid the saturated soils of the spring snowmelt. You must account for hardpan caliche layers and expansive clays that demand specialized equipment. Additionally, check your property for historic irrigation ditches, as digging near these requires prior coordination with the local water district.

Helpful?

Expansive soils in Grand Junction cause foundation movement, making foundation repair a primary reason for excavating. You will also need drainage corrections to handle intense summer monsoon rainfall. Older properties require underground trenching to replace aging water and sewer service lines. Homes in unincorporated areas will eventually require digging for septic tank and drain field replacements to maintain a safe environment.
