"I actually hired Jose to do two different jobs. He put in a new post for my wooden gate and rehung the gate so it opened and closed easily. I was so happy with that work I asked if he could clean out my very overgrown flowerbeds. He did an excellent job on both projects, which were both reasonably priced, and done in a timely and efficient manner."

"These guys were excellent. Daniel is very communicative and so helpful for the fencing process. We got our fence well under price compared to other companies and was installed within 1 week of signing the contract. Will be reaching out for more landscaping and recommending to anyone looking for similar work!"

"Devora tree service did an amazing job trimming our trees. We were concerned about our turf getting damaged during the process but, Jesus had said that the crews would lay down tarps to protect the turf and they did. They were there on time and cleaned up very well. I will definitely hire them again in the future."

Customers say: Quick response

Trees of Colorado has been here in Denver for 25 years. We have studied trees with the International Society of Arboriculture for 9 years. We love trees and evaluating their structure and nutrient deficiency. We have been successful at satisfying our customers by listening, looking for problems and performing the work to the customer's satisfaction. We have a bucket truck, climbers and chipper that will also help with trimming trees with no trouble. \n\nP.S. We do a great cleanup job. We look forward to meeting with you and listening to you and offering our expertise about your trees.See you soon and thanks for your time.

"Prompt response and able to do the project the same day and cleaned up everything including old branches at the end of the project. Might have taken a bit more off the branches than I’d like, but I’m no arborist and they certainly removed all the dead/non-leaf branches at a great price."

"The owners, Roger & Mike, are a father & son team who come from several generations of arborists. It is a joy to watch them at work, because caring for trees seems to be their second nature. Aside from their expertise, the thing that will make me call them again is that they were totally up front about their quote. No games. Just an honest quote. Of course, they were quick to respond to my query, and gave me a bid that same day. They were able to do the job the following day. They worked quickly and got my very old Jonathan apple tree in shape in less than an hour. They left no trace, except what I asked them to leave for my compost pile. They even stopped at a few of my other trees on the way out, trimming bits ("that was bothering me," he said.) Ha! Gotta love a guy who loves a well trimmed tree! So refreshing to work with them. What you see is what you get. No games, no pretense. No messing with your head. Just generations' worth of wisdom at work. Thanks, Mike and Roger!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Generally, no, tree topping isn’t a good technique, and you should avoid using it in most cases. Tree topping may be the only good option to save a tree following severe damage after a storm, but in most other cases, it’s not the right choice. Tree topping can leave trees vulnerable to disease and further damage, and most pros will suggest against it.

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

It’s not as common for Dutch elm disease to affect other types of trees, especially if the surrounding trees aren’t elms. However, it is possible for DED to spread to other trees, particularly in northern states, like Minnesota. In fact, it’s a good idea to use geography to identify wood and determine which types of trees are in your yard.

Unfortunately, the complex and shallow root system of elm trees makes surrounding elm trees particularly vulnerable to DED. Early discovery is key!

Grinding down a tree helps reduce the risk of foundation damage and pests and even helps your home’s curb appeal. Stumps can also be a safety hazard. If grass grows above the stump and someone else mows your yard, they may be in for a rude awakening when they accidentally hit it.
