"Hired Marco Construction to repair our warping deck that all other companies wanted to rip down. They fixed the warp, installed railing and an animal barrier. Good communication and workers were very respectful throughout the process and they completed it quick!"

"Daniel and the team were professional, considerate, honest and timely with their work. We had over 5 bids for our project which was a large investment and went through a long vetting process. Daniel answered all my questions honestly and provided a consultative approach to the project. We had a concrete pour and a deck rebuild D&D could do both, most contractors could only do the deck and said we needed to outsource the concrete elsewhere. The deck project was done in two weeks and the outcome was better than what I had imagined. The team was very clean and picked up all remnants of the materials, I highly recommend D&D for any deck or patio repair, rebuild, or new build. They are honest and hard working, will definitely give a referral or use for any future projects on our house. Glad I found this team. Customers say: Terrific value

"Dwight came highly recommended to me by a friend. I needed some facia and trim repairs prior to new gutters going up. I hired Dwight because I felt like I did not have time to do it and was in a hurry. What I came to realize was I never would have done as good of a job as Dwight did. He came up for some great solutions to some weird issues on my old home that I never would have thought of.Ive passed his number on a couple times already and am working to schedule with him to get some more work done."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can build a deck around a fire pit, as long as it is safely enclosed, meets code requirements, and is at least 15 feet away from your home. You’ll want to ensure you have a heat-resistant barrier between the fire pit and your deck to prevent any structural damage and fires. A galvanized ring surrounded by pavers, brick, or stone makes for a beautiful, safe, and sturdy design.

There are several perks to building a deck around your inground or above-ground pool. Specifically, building a deck around a pool gives you space to lounge and sunbathe, easy access to monitor kids in the pool, extra room for entertaining and dining, an anti-slip surface for post-pool fun, and enhanced aesthetics.

In most cases, there should be a small gap between the house and the deck, usually no more than ½ to ¾ of an inch. This space allows water and moisture to flow through instead of pooling against the side of your house. It also lets flashing protect your siding from runoff, which is one of the most common issues with decks.

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.

PVC decking can get slippery when wet because it’s made from plastic. However, composite and wood decking can also be slippery when wet. It’s best to wear shoes with grippy soles when walking on a wet deck, no matter the material, and to be extra cautious not to slip and fall down.
