"Kevin is a skilled professional. He performed extensive tree removal and trimming on an extremely overgrown property. But that was not all. He also installed and repaired the property's fence, which had extensive damage from years of tree limbs falling on it. Additionally, he skillfully cleaned up and restored the neglected lawn. This past winter, he provided snow removal services in a timely and thorough manner. Honestly, I haven't found a project that Kevin can't handle. And I look forward to employing his expertise this summer and beyond. Above all else, Kevin is honest and fair, and he goes to any length necessary to get the job done."

"Cutter has saved me twice now when my boiler system wasnâ t functioning properly. I called numerous other companies and did not even receive a return phone call. Cutter got back to me almost immediately and even came to maintenance the system while I was away on vacation! Cutter is responsive, efficient, polite, trustworthy, and easy to work with."

"Iâ  m giving him 5 stars now for the quality of work but I really wonâ  t know until the next storm. But Bryce showed up the same day I contacted him. He did the work(roof patch) on the very same day. Bryce was friendly, and very professional. We talked about the repair and it made sense to me that it would work. Very Impressed!! Thank you Bryce"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Downspouts should be buried at least 5 to 10 feet away from your foundation. This can vary depending on your local building codes, soil type, and property slope. The main goal is to ensure water is directed away from your foundation.

No, a ditch isn’t a trench. A ditch is an open, relatively shallow channel that’s carved out of the ground and used for drainage purposes. In contrast, a trench is a deeper excavation that’s entirely underground. Trenches have many uses, including gas lines, sewage systems, and electrical wiring. Unlike trenches, ditches don’t get filled back in with dirt after they’re dug.

There are many ways to cut through roots when digging, especially if your trencher doesn’t seem to be removing the roots. First, use a shovel to expose the roots. Then, use gardening shears to clear out smaller roots or a reciprocating saw to remove larger plant roots. If you plan on keeping the plant, avoid cutting any roots over 2 inches thick.

A trench that is less than 5 feet deep often doesn't require a protective system. Most residential trenches will not go this deep (the typical residential drainage trench is just 18 inches deep). In the event that an excavator needs to dig more than 5 feet beneath the surface, a protective system is required unless the excavation is in entirely stable rock.

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.
