"Al and James completed my annual maintenance yesterday and they were very professional. They fixed some plumbing issues on my sump pump and fortified the sump pump outlet piping to prevent possible further issues. They also took special care to replace and improved upon the original floor linear over the sump pump and left the crawl space spotless."

"I hired Neli over a week period for 3 different appliances, my dryer, washing machine, dishwasher, and even kitchen sink! I had a fantastic experience: 1. I fixed my dryer with Thomas' excellent remote guidance, changing the timer and the switch! Fabulous guidance Thomas, with lots of money saved! I learned a lot in the process. 2. I determined that there was no dishwasher leak and in the process learned how to check for leaks and trouble shoot for some common repair issues. It cost $40.00 but as I had some water on the floor, I was ready to get a new dishwasher. Now, I am confident that it wasn't a leak and caused by putting in the dishes in a funny manner and not a repair issue. I am using the dishwasher now again with no problem. 3. I determined with Thomas' help that the washing machine had a major problem and could have spun out of control into my wall....no question, it was time to get a new washing machine! This was a well spent $40.00--I even got Thomas advice on purchasing a new washing machine and what to look for. 4. I checked the drainage on my kitchen sink and learned how to empty out the "trap" and that most likely, I am okay, but what to swap out if I have continuing issues with slow drainage. In the end, I saved lots of money, gaining and learning valuable experience! Absolutely fabulous service!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

In the short term, completing plumbing updates immediately reduces your risk of frozen pipes and avoids expensive emergency calls during Craig winters. Over the long term, replacing aging pipes and maintaining water heaters extends the lifespan of your entire system. Proper upgrades protect your home value, ensure insurance compliance, and lower utility waste in this high-desert climate.

Helpful?

When planning plumbing projects, account for the 36-inch frost line in Craig to prevent freezing. You must install all exterior pipes below this depth. High mineral content in the local water supply causes scale buildup, so select durable fixtures. Additionally, the elevation affects tankless water heater performance, requiring proper calibration. Schedule outdoor work between late spring and early fall to avoid severe winter weather.

Helpful?

Completing plumbing projects in Craig requires extra time due to a limited number of local professionals and longer material shipping times. Expect wait times of one to three weeks just to schedule non-emergency work. Minor repairs take a day, while repiping an older home takes up to a week. Winter weather and local permit processing also extend your overall project timeline significantly.

Helpful?

Keep pipe insulation on hand to protect exposed lines in crawl spaces and garages during subzero CO winters. Stock supplies to clean scale buildup from aerators and water heater drain valves due to high mineral content. Have basic pipe repair clamps ready for emergency winter bursts before a local professional arrives. Finally, locate your main water shut-off valve and ensure it functions properly.

Helpful?

Upgrading your plumbing ensures reliable hot water and functional hydronic heating during harsh CO winters. Adding proper pipe insulation eliminates the severe risk of burst pipes on subzero nights. Replacing aging galvanized pipes restores strong water pressure and provides clear water. Maintaining your water heater to handle high mineral content makes cooking, bathing, and daily water use much more comfortable year-round.
