"Ryan replaced the old wood decking and steps on my front porch with Timbertech. The porch looks amazing. I plan to have him back to cover the porch with a pergola."

"We are extremely impressed with our project we completed with these guys! We had a covered deck, concrete patio, and a new sliding glass door installed. The results are absolutely stunning and I love how well they communicated with us through the whole process. We would definitely hire them again plus recommend them to friends and family."

"We are REALLY glad we went with High West Siding and the TEMO Patio Cover. The cost was very comparable to quotes we had received for structures composed of far less durable building materials. The main reason we chose the Patio Cover was the quality of the construction materials, which we thought would provide insulation. That has proved to be true, as weâ  ve measured the temperature outside and under the Patio Cover with an Ambient Weather Station WS-5000m and the temperature in January under the cover is consistently 3à ° to 5à ° warmer under the patio than it is outside the structure. Weâ  re betting that the same will apply in July and August, and the temperatures will be 3à ° to 5à ° cooler. The construction team was awesomeâ  they worked hard, cleaned up each day, were polite, well-mannered, and respected our property. The customer service has also been wonderful! Donâ  t make the mistake of getting impatient with the timeline and going with another company or product â  stick with High West Siding and the TEMO product. Youâ  ll be glad you did."

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

Hurricane fabric is a temporary form of hurricane protection that offers an alternative to boarding up windows or installing traditional storm panels. Unlike hurricane screens, which are permanently attached to your home, hurricane fabric is installed over your windows and other openings before a storm.

In terms of effectiveness, hurricane fabric is tested and proven to protect homes from Category 5 hurricanes, which can have winds over 157 miles per hour. When installed properly, it is designed to block the majority of wind and rain and protect against water, debris, and projectile damage.

While the fabric is exceptionally durable, windows can still break if hit directly by flying debris at high velocity. However, it is a good protective measure against an impending storm. For comparison, hurricane fabric is more protective and durable than hurricane window film. While boarding up windows is easier than installing the fabric, it is more labor-intensive and requires storing heavy plywood.

To further increase the chances of your windows surviving a hurricane, you can take additional steps like securing outdoor items, elevating HVAC units, and fortifying your home's foundation.

Awnings offer a number of benefits, including:

  • Reduced summer home cooling costs with lower solar heat gains

  • Protection from sun, rain, and snow damage

  • Increased curb appeal for your home

Keep in mind that awnings also have drawbacks, including the potential to reduce your view, block natural light, and create new occasional home maintenance needs.

The least expensive way to enclose a porch is with screens. These protect the room by preventing insects from entering and, if you live in a warm climate, provide excellent airflow during hot summer months. Screens cost far less than any other alternative, so if you are against getting permits, spending too much, or enclosing your porch in walls or glass, screens are the best choice.

Awnings offer a variety of materials to choose from, each of which has its own benefits. Cotton is a lower-cost option that’s also more eco-friendly because it’s made from natural materials, while acrylic-coated polyester and vinyl offer better durability against harsh weather. Fiberglass and metal are also resilient to weather, although metal can be vulnerable to corrosion without protective sealant. Ultimately, you’ll need to consider your climate and your budget in deciding the best material for your awning.
