"Nick is an honest craftsman and has the attitudes toward and pride in his work that guarantee a good result. Before I had even hired him for the job he came to look at it and spent an hour talking to me about it, but wasn't pushy at all and have me a fair price. He is a sole owner operator and it is clear that he wants to maintain his and his business's excellent reputation. This also means that you get his decades of experience applied to the job rather than getting some random barely-qualified laborer with nothing on the line sent out because they happen to be available that day, which seems to be the unfortunate business model of many other tile installation businesses. I didn't realize that the natural limestone tile I purchased was going to be very challenging to install due to significant variations in thickness, texture, size, and squareness. Nick took as much time as necessary to get a result that he was happy with and checked with me all along the way to make sure his decisions lined up with my expectations, which they consistently did. He worked straight through on my job rather than running from one job to another and I could tell he was focused the whole time, and I'm very happy with the results. I'll absolutely be hiring him for more work in the future and hope to send him references."

"Got the job done efficiently, for a great price. Was prompt on scheduling and communication, and the job was done in a clean organized manner. We had some coax wiring hidden and installed and a TV mounted, would definitely hire again!"

"I contacted Sean to hang an outdoor fan and install two hose mounts on the sides of my house. He communicated quickly, gave me a fair price and both the fan and the mounts look fantastic. He ensured everything was perfectly lined up and finished the job quickly. I've recommended him to friends and neighbors as well! I will 100% use these services again."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional services ensure precision and long-lasting results.

No, you don’t technically need a cement backer board for a wall tiling project, but not using it risks disastrous moisture damage. Cement is naturally water-resistant, whereas drywall soaks it in, which can lead to warping or mold growth. Always use a backer board treated with a waterproof membrane for bathrooms and other chronically damp areas to ensure complete tile shower waterproofing.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.
