"Giovanni, Alberto and their crew are just amazing!! Our backyard landscape timber retaining wall was rotting and we wanted to extend it to create a planting space. Also our paver patio was a mess with pavers sinking etc. Also we needed an huge old stump taken out to make room for the extended retaining wall. They did an amazing, beautiful job!! They were very responsive to my questions and to my add-on requests. I can't say enough good things about them!! I highly recommend them. Very fast, hard workers who know a lot about what they are doing. Giovanni suggested adding a different color paver to make the patio more striking and he was right!"

"Daniel and the team were professional, considerate, honest and timely with their work. We had over 5 bids for our project which was a large investment and went through a long vetting process. Daniel answered all my questions honestly and provided a consultative approach to the project. We had a concrete pour and a deck rebuild D&D could do both, most contractors could only do the deck and said we needed to outsource the concrete elsewhere. The deck project was done in two weeks and the outcome was better than what I had imagined. The team was very clean and picked up all remnants of the materials, I highly recommend D&D for any deck or patio repair, rebuild, or new build. They are honest and hard working, will definitely give a referral or use for any future projects on our house. Glad I found this team. Masonry questions, answered by experts

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.

No, using a power sander on brick is not recommended because the force of the sander can destroy brick's fragile outer layer. Even using sandpaper on brick is discouraged because of the damage its abrasiveness can cause.

A well-made brick wall can last up to 100 years if maintained properly, which includes regularly repairing the mortar every 30 to 50 years. If your brick wall is under 30 years old and is already showing signs of repair, it may be due to poor brickwork and installation. Extreme weather conditions can also accelerate a brick wall’s life span (especially the exterior of a house).

Yes, you can do German schmear on stone. You can account for the more textured and rough surface of stone by using a large paintbrush instead of a putty knife. A brush allows you to drag mortar across the stone to get it into all the cracks and crevices. However, a brush will cover more of the surface, so you may need a wet sponge to scrub excess mortar and expose more of your stone.

You can purchase from many brick manufacturers and distributors via their websites, where you can also get estimates based on the quantity you need. You’ll find bricks at your local home improvement stores as well, though they won’t have as much of a variety to choose from. As for antique bricks, secondary selling websites like eBay can be a great resource.
