"Had a tub drain that would not close. Initial estimate was $250. He tried everything....to no avail. Ultimately, the only way to fix our issue is to open a hole in the ceiling below to access the pipes. After 1.5 hours on site, they only charged me $50, less than their standard service call fee. Great customer service. Would use them again in a heartbeat."

"Superb, is the word that comes to mind. Our project was large, replace the broken pipe under our basement floor & 10 feet outside the wall. Job was explained, cost determined & explained. Work was completed on time with very little disruption of our routine AND they cleaned up everything!"

"My hot water heater shut down on a Thursday night- I got on the home advisor website on Friday. Todd Moritzky (owner) called me immediately. He gave me a quote over the phone and said he could install a new hot water heater for me on Saturday morning. He was prompt, organized, answered every question I had and did a great job removing my old hot water heater, installing the new one and hauling away the old one. I will definitely hire Bulletproof Plumbing and Heating for my future needs."

"Will, did an excellent job installing a flood light. There was no cost for the estimate and he made suggestions for where I might find good quality flood lights. He ran new wiring and an outside conduit to where the flood light was installed. He tested the photocell and said to let him know if there were any issues. The light works as intended and I’m very satisfied."

"The gentleman who provided the estimate was very knowledgeable and passionate about his trade. He took time to educate us on our best options and he fully answered all our questions. We gathered 4 different estimates for this project, and Basset offered the best value by far. The maintenance plan offered more service for less cost compared to the other professionals. Basset was able to get us on the installation schedule within a week of our estimate! The installers (AC unit and electrical) were kind and professional. They called 20 minutes out to let us know they were on their way. The installer also took time to go over basic information, common problems, and what to do under certain circumstances. We were very pleased with our entire experience with Basset and we highly recommend them for any related home improvement project."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

If your drain doesn’t have metal crosshairs or crossbars, you should use a tub drain extractor. These tools create a grip on the drain so you can turn it using a 1/2-inch ratchet drive, drain key, or wrench. Your drain may not have crosshairs if it's old and broken.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

You should flush your AC drain line once every three months to keep it clear of debris and buildup. Keeping your AC drain line clean prevents clogs, backups, mold growth, and extra wear on your AC unit. If you live in a humid area or have several furry pets, up your cleaning schedule to once a month.

Drain pipes carry wastewater from sinks, toilets, showers, and other fixtures to the main sewer line. They’re typically located within the walls and floors and beneath a home’s foundation. Meanwhile, sewer pipes transport collected wastewater to a septic tank or a municipal sewer system.

Septic tanks can clog if they aren’t pumped every few years since solid waste accumulates inside of them. Your tank might also clog if you have a habit of flushing anything other than human waste or toilet paper. Items like diapers, baby wipes, paper towels, cat litter, and personal hygiene products should never go down your pipes.
