"Excellent, Mark the plumber and his helper did the job right. Tonys Plumbing were the only plumbers who responded quickly and the only ones who gave me an estimate. The other plumbers did not."

"Great service and work from Miguel and team. I would hire them again. What originally was a slow draining sewer line turned into a root infested backup. Miguel was able to scope the drain and visualize the root of the problem. They were prepared to start digging and had the tools and supplies on the truck to get the job completed. He clearly explained the discovery, repair, and installation process as well as potential other root intrusion spots. After the dig, the soil and grass was replaced and can hardly tell that any work was done. They also cleaned the dirt/mud on the concrete walk way. Thank you Miguel and team for the great work."

"I was skeptical at first of using HomeAdvisor to get more bids for work on our residential sewer lines but went ahead and accepted a connection with So-Cal Plumbing & Rooter. Jose called me immediately and his partner Alex and crew were here within half an hour. They did a thorough job diagnosing our issue and provided the most reasonable and fair bid we've seen. Once we accepted their offer, they began working straight away and returned in the morning to complete the job. We couldn't be happier with the experience and are grateful to Jose & Alex for their professionalism, honesty and thorough work. They will be our go-to plumbers from now on!"

"Outstanding Service from John at Drain City Plumbing Services I cannot say enough great things about my experience with John from Drain City Plumbing Services. He came out to unclog my shower drain, and from start to finish, his professionalism truly stood out. John arrived exactly when he said he would, was courteous and respectful, and immediately put me at ease. He took the time to thoroughly explain what was causing the problem, what steps he was taking to resolve it, and how I could help prevent the issue from happening again in the future. I really appreciated that he didn’t just fix the problem—he educated me along the way. His work was exceptionally clean and neat. He treated my home with care, cleaned up after himself, and made sure everything was working perfectly before he left. It’s refreshing to find someone who takes such pride in their work and genuinely cares about providing excellent customer service. I would absolutely use Drain City Plumbing Services again!"

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

As a preventative measure, hydro jetting should be done every one to two years. However, the best practice is to hydro jet your sewer line once per year. The ideal frequency depends on several factors, including the age and condition of your pipes, how prone they are to clogging, how often the sewer line is used, and the type of waste disposed of in the system. If you frequently experience clogs or are unsure, it's best to ask a licensed plumber for a recommendation specific to your plumbing system.

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.

Grease buildup, tree roots, and foreign objects often cause blockages. Regular maintenance prevents major issues.

It’ll take 20 to 30 minutes to unclog a sewer line using a drain snake or drain cleaner. If you hire a professional, you should expect them to be on-site for three hours or less. In addition to clearing the clog, they’ll do other routine inspections, which adds to the overall time (and cost) required.

No, you typically cannot use metal detectors to find your sewer line. Most sewer lines are made of non-metallic materials such as PVC, clay, or cast iron, which are not detectable by standard metal detectors. Metal detectors are designed to locate metallic objects, so they won't be effective for identifying the path of a non-metallic sewer line. To locate your sewer line accurately, it's best to use other methods.
