Landscape Design Magic

I interviewed several designers to transform my swimming pool and drab backyard into something really special. Most offered basic sketches, but none hit the mark—until I met Jeff Schnurr of Landscape Design Magic, a former Disney designer. Jeff envisioned a tropical paradise and brought it to life with stunning artist renderings featuring waterfalls, lush plants, and spectacular lighting. Today, my 'Hawaiian Village Resort' resembles Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise, complete with a Mayan Head waterfall and another waterfall that allows you to sit behind a cascading sheet of water that falls over in front of you and into the swimming pool below. Jeff is uniquely talented, imaginative, and cost-conscious. If you're looking for a designer that fuses functionality with the "Wow factor," Jeff is the man who can create it for you. I highly recommend him.

I was very impressed with Jeff Schnur. He has shown up on time, easy to talk with, and had impressive designs in his portfolio. I hired him to design the landscape for my yard and Iâ m very happy with the results.

Very prompt and explains his vision.

We have a very large yard and we gave him the specifics of what we wanted: pool and spa, privacy at side yards, elevated patio for view, no water features. I also wanted avocado and fruit and gave him a list of my favorite plants to include. He brought a drawing with 4 water features, side yard to neighbors not covered, no avocado tree or plants that I wanted. Patio was placed behind neighbors house that blocked view of mountains. He clearly did not listen to anything that we requested. He had not heard of many of the common plants that I wanted so did not not use them. He has a few plants he is familiar with and seems to stick with those. He seems to like water features everywhere even if you do not want them. He definitely does not know plants very well and did not take notes when we spoke. He offered to redraw the whole thing but we decided against it since he took no notes as we described what we did not like and paid him $250 for his trouble. I called later to request a copy of the lot map since we paid him the $250 and he never returned my calls.

Design was quickly delivered and gave me additional ideas

We hired Jeff to draw up a master plan for our large, dirt backyard that is oddly shaped. We had a few ideas & requests (rustic/mountain theme; needs a large swim spa, veggie garden, outdoor kitchen and covered pavilion without impeding our views). We also need to come in at or under budget... He asked lots of questions, took measurements and walked the lot for awhile. He left and came back a week later with a BRILLIANT design! It honestly surpassed our ideas or expectations. We had a few minor requests for tweaks & changes that he happily accommodated on the spot. We are going to be working with his recommended general contractor to make his vision a reality in our yard. Fingers crossed that it turns out as great as his vision!

We loved our design!

Jeff was on time for every appointment, showed genuine interest in our ideas and budget limitations. He was very pleasent to work with. He provided plenty of referrals, past work, before and after pics. I certainly plan on using Jeff again when we re-landscape our back yard. I highly recommend Jeff for landscape designer needs.
