"Super happy with LA Reglazing! They reglazed our old bathtub and made it look brand new. The job was done quickly, and the quality is top-notch — no weird smells or streaks, just a super clean, glossy finish. Customer service was also great they explained the process, gave a fair quote, and were on time. Definitely exceeded expectations."

"I had a water heater replaced & they had to clear out the overflow piping cuz it was not draining. Turns out the outlet was outside buried in a planter, but they found it and fixed it. Great work, thank u."

"My shower faucet starting leaking in between the bathroom walls creating a problem. After being told by 2 other contractors that I needed to replace all pipes leading to the faucets, I sent Diplomat videos of the situation, and Mike showed up the next day with the parts he needed to replace the stems and all new hardware.Everything works excellent and came in at 1/5 the cost of the other 2 Angi recommended plumbers who were clearly out to rip me a new one.Mike and I discussed the downside of hiring contractors, and, being one myself,I had to agree there are some companies out there who don't really care if they ever get repeat customers. From my experience, honesty, word of mouth, and repeat customers are the key to a successful business, and Mike's Diplomat Plumbing has me as a customer for life. Highly recommended, stellar service."

"Greg was an excellent partner for our condo's kitchen renovation. I loved having one person I could trust to take care of everything. On top of that, his all-inclusive rate was a lot less than other quotes I got. Design phase: Our original kitchen had an awkward double L-shaped layout, and I hadn't even considered the possibility of changing the layout because other people told us it would be more expensive to do so. But Greg suggested this new layout that made our space feel so much bigger and assured us it wouldn't be a big deal at all (and it wasn't). Greg also has good taste. I also have a design background, so I'm particularly invested in the design phase. It was great to collaborate with Greg on the elements that mattered to me (finish materials) and defer to his expertise on the rest. Construction phase: The majority of the project, from demo day to having a functional kitchen, was only about one month, which was great since we are also living here during construction. The contractors he used were all great at each of their specialties and very nice. Greg came by often to check on the project and was very detail-oriented, making sure everything came out perfect and catching things I might not have even noticed. There were a few small punch list items to get through at the end, but he handled it all with ease, and we're thrilled with our new kitchen. Greg is super easy to work with, and when we get around to updating our bathrooms, I'll definitely work with him again!"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

Installing a clawfoot tub with a minimum of 6 inches of clearance from surrounding walls allows ample room for the faucet and pipework, makes cleaning easier, and reduces the chance of moisture being trapped between the tub and the walls. It might need to be closer if the faucet comes directly out of the wall.

If you don’t caulk your bathtub, then there won’t be a watertight seal between your bathtub and the wall tile surrounding it. As a result, water can seep into the wall and the floor and cause the perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Not only does this require costly repairs, but mold can be harmful to those breathing it.

It is possible to install a two-in-one unit that has both a shower and a walk-in tub so you can still have both in smaller bathrooms or provide a showerhead for those in the household who prefer taking showers. You’ll hear these referred to as walk-in tub and shower combo units. Keep in mind that these combo units can take up more space than a standard shower or tub, and you’ll most likely need to hire a pro to install one.

While Medicare will pay for some bathroom modifications, it won’t pay for all modifications done to help make the room more accessible for older adults. Plus, the improvements must be approved in advance, or they won’t cover the upgrade. Check well in advance of construction if you have coverage for grab bars, walk-in tubs, wider doorways, higher toilets, and more.
