Small jobs welcome

"On time, on budget, reliable, offered recommendations and provided low cost solutions for a better result. Quality of work is excellent, didn’t leave a mess and didn’t miss anything on our lengthy punch list. An absolute pleasure to work with - a very nice change of pace from other contractors. Will definitely be calling Valencia Drywall for all my future drywall needs."

"I needed some stucco repair work on my garage. I am not a concrete or stucco guy, but i am a maker. I look at both technical expertise as well as the visual quality of a finished product. I was impressed by how clean the technical installation was, as well as the visual quality of the finished product. I think it is "A" work in both cases."

Customers say: Quick response

"Luis taped, mudded, skim coated, and sanded my 20 x 20 garage. He even cleaned up all the dust afterwards. It took about a day and a half and looks awesome. Pricing is very fair and he was very communicative. I'll use him for all my future drywall needs."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You can paint over drywall mud about 24 hours after application, but the exact timing depends on factors like humidity, temperature, and the thickness of the mud. For the best results, ensure the mud is completely dry to the touch and has changed from a darker gray to a lighter, chalky white. Don’t forget to sand and prime the drywall surface before you paint to create a smooth, even finish.

The time it takes for thinset to dry is determined by your room’s ambient temperature and humidity levels. Assuming the average humidity level is around 40% with an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, thinset can dry within 48 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can extend the curing process beyond 72 hours, while high heat and zero humidity can shorten the curing process. However, thinset can crack if it dries too fast.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.

Drying alone can take 1 to 4 hours to dry to the touch per plaster layer, but some types of plaster take several hours longer to dry. However, this doesn’t mean the job is done because plaster doesn’t fully harden until it cures, which can take a few days to a couple of weeks. It may take even longer if you’re building a new, pretty thick plaster wall. Allow the plaster to cure before painting it.

You may need to replace drywall because of smoke damage. If the drywall is covered in soot, you may be able to clean it, but it will require a lot of time and effort. You could spend hours cleaning the drywall only to find there is more damage and it needs to be replaced anyway. It’s usually easier and safer to remove the smoke-damaged drywall and replace it.
