Small jobs welcome

"We just recently had gone through another nightmare experience with another shady contractor and numerous shenanigans involving substandard work, excuses, and many lies. The contractor that we fired left our remodeling job unfinished and with several major corrections to be made to the work that they did do. Frustrated and fed up, we found Ben and Total Construction Remodel. Ben came in and immediately assessed the finish work that needed to be done and the work that needed to be fixed and gave us a fair quote. From the day that Ben, his son and their crew first showed up to the day that they finished, they were professional, efficient, courteous and never made any excuses. They showed up on time every day and handled every single one of our concerns perfectly. They also went to the trouble of covering everything properly and cleaning everything every single day that they were here. The contractor before left an absolute dusty mess every day and left a great deal of the work unfinished. Ben’s work was finished beautifully and on time and we were provided with receipts for everything. We also got Ben’s personal assurance that if anything needed to be fixed, he would handle it right away. We love our new living room and can’t wait to have guests in it one day. Thank you, Ben for making good on every single promise, doing excellent work and making us feel comfortable about doing business with you. We strongly recommend Ben, his son and Total Construction Remodel for any job you may have and he will definitely be the one that we call For all of our future remodeling needs."

"I contacted Osvaldo to repair drywall in my ceiling after water damage, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From the start, they were professional, responsive, and punctual. They quickly assessed the damage, explained the repair process clearly, and gave me a fair and transparent estimate. The quality of the work was outstanding. The ceiling looks like new—seamless and perfectly blended with the surrounding area. They were meticulous with cleanup too, leaving the space spotless when they finished. It’s clear they take pride in their work and care about customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Osvaldo to anyone in need of drywall repair. I’ll definitely be calling them again for future projects!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should not leave drywall outside, especially overnight or in a wet, humid climate. Exposure to rain and humidity can damage the drywall, weakening its structural integrity and making it susceptible to mold growth. If you must leave drywall outside during a project, be sure to cover it with a tarp or keep it inside a storage shed to protect it. Even drywall intended for exterior projects requires a protective moisture barrier. For best results, store any extra drywall in a dry area away from the elements.

To properly clean and maintain your skip trowel drywall texture, dust the surface weekly with an electrostatic duster or vacuum with a soft brush attachment. Never scrub the surface. You can remove stains by gently applying a mild detergent solution with a paint roller, removing it with a damp roller, and drying with a dry roller. To cut down on cleaning frequency, avoid indoor smoking and limit the use of fireplaces.

Metal corners, often referred to as corner beads for square corners, are used on drywall installations to provide structural reinforcement to vulnerable outside corners. Their usage safeguards against chipping, denting, or other forms of damage, enhancing the overall durability of the wall. Metal corners also offer a precise and straight edge that facilitates sharp and clean lines, crucial for achieving a polished and professional finish.

A common cause of separation between a wall and the ceiling is truss lift—this can happen to the ceiling of rooms directly under the attic when the seasons change and wood building materials dry out, shrink, and shift. Roof trusses often dry out at different speeds, and if the bottom pieces dry out faster than the top pieces, they can shrink and pull the attached drywall away from ceilings and walls, causing cracks. Fortunately, truss lift is only a cosmetic problem, not a structural problem, and you can fix it by separating the ceiling drywall from the roof trusses, and patching the cracks.

If your home’s foundation shifts slightly over time, any seams in the drywall represent the weakest point in the wall, leading to cracks. If your home has significant changes in temperature and humidity, this can cause the drywall to swell and contract slightly, causing a crack at the weak point of the seam. If your drywall installer did a poor job securing the panels to the wall studs, this could cause a weak layout and cracks in the seams.
