"American Home Renewal recently replaced 7 double hung windows in our home. We had 3 window replacement companies come to our home discuss the process and give us estimates. Chris from American Home Renewal was by far the most professional. He spent time with us, accurately described the entire installation process with us and exhibited willingness and patience to hear and understand what we were looking for in the new windows. The American Home Renewal contract was clear, concise and straight forward. The 3 day installation process was fluid and fairly quiet and we were able to work from home. It had a minimal impact on our lives. The crew cleaned up thoroughly every day and took time to make sure we knew how to tilt the windows for eventual cleaning etc. Keith, the Production Manager, checked in a few times during the 3 day installation period to ensure everything was progressing to our satisfaction. We could not be more pleased with American Home Renewal's level of professional service and care."

"Once again, we had an excellent experience with Custom Exteriors. 11 years ago, we purchased Milgard windows for the whole house from Custom Exteriors which included a lifetime warranty. Overall, we've been happy with the windows. But recently one of the window's metal crank mechanisms broke. First, we called Milgard, but they were giving us the run around. We next called Custom Exteriors and talked with Chris the Service Coordinator. We explained the situation and how Milgard wasn't being helpful. Despite Custom Exteriors not working with Milgard windows anymore, Chris still agreed to send out a couple of service guys to fix the window. We told Chris that we would be happy to pay for one additional window crank to be replaced since it's the same age as the one that broke. Chris said that Custom Exteriors would replace that crank for free as well even though it wasn't broken. It's been a few days since both windows' cranks were replaced, and everything is working great. Thank you, Chris, and Custom Exteriors!"

"Carlos and his team were always polite and professional, arriving first thing in the morning and staying as long as needed to complete the task. Work was top notch and seemed to be priced well. Owners of the company came by to check on completion. Very pleased."

"i first needed base molding in the guest bath and kitchen. they did this work and it was beautiful. also needed texture on one wall redone. they contracted that work to aderholt drywall and it was exceptional. to have that work done, i waited five months because they were "busy". the total duration of that work was 1.25 days. seven months after that work was done, i still did not have an estimate for replacing the flooring in my entire house, or any of the other whole house remodel i wanted to do. i went in twice and selected materials. i called several times asking for estimates and a time frame to begin replacing my floors, but they never responded. it had now been one full year without any estimates for my projects, no time frame, nobody interested at all. i don't know what happened to this company. at first, everybody was very pleasant to communicate with. did they have me mixed up with somebody else for whom they did not want to work? had they changed owners? i recently went in to their store to ask about a product, and they behaved as if it was a ridiculous inconvenience for anybody to ask about their products and services. they promised to call me with the information i needed but, of course, they never did. also, somebody should remind the women behind the desk that, even if you're whispering, people in the store can hear what you're saying. if it isn't nice, you should probably wait until people are not in the store. overall, i have to give this company a score of one star because of their terrible customer service skills, non-existent follow-up, and general disinterest in their customers. if you're not interested in a job, at the very least you should let the customer know so they can move on."

"One way you can tell a project is successful is when at its completion you feel you made the right choice for your builder, among other initial options. One year later, this impression is confirmed. The good impression we had at first with Arman was confirmed. VHB was definitely up to the task, very professional. Their top strength was in their architectural design experience and advices (Robert), and in project management (Mohammad), while all other aspects of the execution exuded professionalism. The VHB owner followed closely the project, and was hands on. Given that we had non-standard demands (insulation, structure), VHB proved to be quite flexible in accommodating our requests and in problem solving situations - both for the main structure and interior design. If we had some frustration it came from where we did not expect it: the slow processing of permit requests from the city, complex and arcane regulations (in spite of the city recently vowing to ease ADU construction), and the city clearly messed-up by requesting some changes late in the construction due to new fire regulations (closeness to the main home) while city could have caught these at the very beginning on the blueprint when presented for the initial permit. VHB proved to be patient, resourceful and accommodating. Afterward we realized how much our project needed a robust, cohesive and experienced team and VHB turned out to be exactly that. "I found Pro Superior Construction via their billboard on 101/Bayshore in San Francisco. Before contacting them, I had another quote from a contractor for 280% of the cost that PSC quoted (2.8x another estimate) using the same James Hardie siding materials. Obviously I chose PSC based off this massive pricing advantage. One of their sales guys Dan came to take measurements and answer my questions, he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Dan was also timely with responding to my texts, which I appreciated. A few gotchas and challenges: - PSC doesn't procure a building permit for you unless you pay for their 3rd party vendor to go do that. The contract wasn't super clear on this. Ultimately it wasn't a huge deal but I did spend 3+ hours of my own time pulling the permit. - Make sure to discuss and get confirmation for the expected look of your siding/trim/window job. For my house, there was a design decision made to merge some window trim with a corner trim that imo looks bad. But PSC is saying its in the name of water proofing. Regardless, it would be ideal to iron out implementation decisions before the work starts. Don't assume they will talk to you about how the siding will look exactly. - Damage from removal of old siding: Protect any plants and be prepared to repair your own dry wall. The crew was hard working and had a great attitude but damaged quite a few of my plants and left my interior drywall a bit damaged, and then didn't repair it properly with spackle, they just painted over the cracks. So I give 4/5 stars for the reasons above, but overall I'd still recommend PSC because their price was right and the staff were professional (aside from these few nits). They also got the whole job done in 3 days, and that's including an interim building inspection for rough framing. All of my qualms are things that you can avoid or reconcile with more experience managing building contractors as a homeowner, so I hope my tips here are helpful."
