MJ Quality Builders does new houses as well as remodeling. They are currently doing work in Pebble Beach on a house I represent. Their work is of the best quality at a reasonable price. Best of all is the short time they take to complete a project. Their design ideas and input are invaluable. I highly recommended them. I will certainly use them again

MJ builder exceeded our expectations. While most builders are struggling with supply chain and labor issues MJ didn’t miss a step. They are reliable, efficient and professional. They recently remodeled our living room; removed existing gas fireplace, installed new energy efficient fireplace, refaced/repainted, addressed numerous electrical issues, and retitled cracked travertine tile. They did this in 3 days and cleaned during and after they concluded our project. We LOVE the outcome! MJ will be our go to for all future projects and so grateful to have met Connie & MJ team who’s as honest and hard working as they get. Connie talked me out of unnecessary work. Who does that? Thanks Connie & MJ team!!

The Streamline guys were great! A lot better than expected. Super professional finishes that impressed me. I’ve done some remodeling work myself in the past but nothing like these guys. Gabe and his team have a natural talent for what they do. Will be definitely contacting them for their business again. Thanks guy

Brawley Construction

Brawley Construction was hired by us because they were reasonably priced for the job we were asking them to do. Boy did we get lucky. Mike Brawley and his crew were very attentive to detail and our request for placement of items in our bathroom. We had beardboard placed and it looks amazing! They had some extra configuring to do with the pedestal sink and plumbing and he was very clear on not adding cost for the change in time it would take to complete the job. I would not hesitate to hire them again for other projects in my house. They were very clean with their materials and the areas they used in my house. Very professional

Brawley Construction

We chose Brawley Construction to complete our project of a total home remodel over the past few months. What started as needing an office for my home based business led to a complete remodel.... completely by our own choice! We were so happy with the plans and work Mike and crew did on the living room addition which allowed us to create new office room, and gave us three larger bedrooms for the family, we decided to go all out and add on a kitchen remodel as well. Services were done in a timely manner and Mike was always available to answer questions or help with any needs we might of had. Brawley Constriction went above and beyond to help make our home remodel look like a brand new house. We have had so many compliments on the work they did and I know we will use them again in the future when it comes time to update the bathrooms. I highly recommend Brawly Construction if you are looking for good workmanship, good prices, reliability and good all around professionalism

Brawley Construction

Brawley Construction did a great job for us in getting our home repaired and ready for us to move back in. Mike and Sarah did a great job of leading and coordinating each of the complicated steps repairing our home from demolition and rebuild to the last final touches. They demonstrated great knowledge interfacing with a variety of city officials, and others to coordinate inspections and other events and keep the job moving, including planners, inspectors, drafters, and material suppliers. They have a wonderful crew of skilled craftsmen who demonstrated strong work ethic and requisite skills to easily do the work required. They were on time and ready to begin work each day always polite and helpful and kept a clean safe work place. Mike and Sarah were easy to talk to through out the project and were always willing to discuss any aspect we asked about. Mike has a large network of suppliers and sub contractors at his disposal,that were also first rate people, to get some of the specialty work done, they were all very professional and qualified. I think the project went about as well as could be expected due to the very harsh weather we had here in California this past winter. Overall we are very satisfied with how the project proceeded and the final outcome. We love our House

BOB LEONARD & ASSOC

The house is not on the ground. It is about two feet off the concrete slab. So trusses run across. Bob Leonard and Assoc did a good job. They were able to level out the house as best as possible without doing anything crazy.

Mikita Construction

Paul (owner of Mikita Construction) is everything you want in a contractor. I hired him to build a 640 sq Ft addition/attached -in-law quarters that will include a fairly large kitchen expansion and remodel. After our initial consultation with Paul, we received a quote that was rather high. After some clarification, Paul gave us a high quote based on a lot of 'unknowns'. We didn't have any specifics selected prior to his consultation: appliances, electrical fixtures, paint, flooring etc etc... so Paul gave us a high quote that would naturally be adjusted lower as the project developed and evolved depending on material that we selected. It should be noted that Paul was up front that his specialty is "framing" and that we hired him to be the project manager for the project - which means that he was/is in charge of hiring sub contractors that will work under his supervision for what he hires them for. Paul is honest and forthright in his approach and takes accountability if there are incident(s) that go wrong. We only had one incident involving bad weather which resulted in some unfortunate and unexpected material damage - without issue Paul stepped up and addressed the issue to our complete satisfaction. Additionally, my project required City inspections and, to my knowledge, he passed every inspection 1st time around. Our project is finally completed, my families' only frustration was the natural lengthy time period it took for project completion - 3-4 months. Paul was completely aware of the frustration and did his absolute best to move things along. Mikita Construction has a Facebook page that you can view his work from and he also comes ready and prepared with references. Throughout the project we added on many 'odds and ends' - extra lighting, concrete walk-ways as well as fixing some dry-wrought issues that were pre-existing. All of those things had me concerned about our over all budget. Paul was aware of my concerns and ensured me we would be on budget - which he met. My wife and I have already made plans for additional renovation in the future and FULLY intend to hire Paul to do the work. One of my biggest concerns before starting this project was hiring a bad contractor. I am so happy to be able to refer Paul as an AWESOME contractor. If I had questions, issues, concerns... Paul was always willing to listen, educate, help, come up with solutions and put the customer at ease. Lastly, there were a number of different sub contractors that were involved on my project. I'm incredibly happy that I hired Paul to hire and manage the sub contractors, I simply wouldnt have been able to do it. This is one happy and completely satisfied customer

"<strong>Pros</strong>
<br />
<em>General Quality of Work</em>
<br /> During construction it was obvious that VHB takes pride in the work they do. I noticed the plywood subfloor was tongue and groove, glued and screwed to the floor joists to minimize squeaks. I am not sure what the code requirements are, but I was really pleased with how this was done.The bathroom tile work was well done. The tile guys worked late on multiple days to get this job done in a timely manner. My wife and I were really pleased with the results.Very willing to resolve issues even after they received payment for a milestone.There are many examples where they added extras without us asking them to.
<br /> These examples include:
<br /> - Adding extra attic vents
<br /> - Making the roofer come back to open up cutouts in roof for vents (I didn?t notice or ask them to do this)
<br />
<em>Freebees</em>
<br /> These are items that for various reasons, they openly took responsibility for and provided at no additional cost:
<br /> - Interior insulation
<br /> - Extra Attic ventilation
<br /> - Extra Attic Access
<br /> - Crown Molding
<br /> - Extra Schluter trim for tile in bathroom
<br /> - Refinishing of hardwood floor
<br />
<strong>Cons</strong>
<br />
<em>Contract for Design</em>
<br /> The contract that we signed stated that the $2700 we paid for the design would be applied to the total cost of our addition. When we settled on a price for the addition we asked if the $2700 would be deducted as stated on the contract and they said ?no?, it was already deducted for the final price. We told them that we thought this was kind of misleading and they gave us a $1000 credit.They told us they could not relocate existing sprinkler systems or pavers that were to be impacted by the addition. They said we would have to get outside contractors to handle this on our own. All other home remodeling companies we interviewed said they would be happy to relocate pavers and sprinkler systems for us. We are not sure why VHB had such a ?unique? response.
<br />
<em>Windows</em>
<br /> We originally requested double hung windows for the project to match the windows with the rest of the house. When the windows came they were casement style. When I asked why this was done, they said it was needed to have enough window area to meet fire code. When they drew up the original plans they didn?t account for this and make the window opening wide enough for double hung. Because extra time and reengineering would be required to widen the window opening, they chose to increase the height. As a result our windows are almost as high as a door.
<br />
<em>Communication</em>
<br /> Between themselves - issues communicating between Designer and PM. Shower niches not located where the designer told us they could be. This was because we were going to locate the niches on a structural shear wall.
<br /> Directly with them - Kept confusing our project with another, similar project.
<br />
<em>Use of Personal Items</em>
<br /> VHB touts their Angies List awards and exceptional service as compared to other contractors. Because of this, I was a little surprised to see the framers and subcontractors using our personal items. Some of the personal items they used include:
<br /> - Hose coil used and damaged. Never replaced.
<br /> - Hose reel used in place of the hose coil that was damaged above.
<br /> - I had a 5 gallon bucket in the garage used to store automotive grease guns. The grease guns were placed on the garage floor so they could use our bucket. As a result I walked into garage one day to find a large grease stain on the floor where the guns were laid (They offered to clean the grease stain).
<br /> - Another 5 gallon bucket was taken from the garage to perform tile work. It was never returned.
<br /> - A push broom was taken from garage and used on job site.
<br /> - Patio Swing - We have a patio swing that I noticed was getting dusty from all the construction so we covered it in plastic. A few days later we noticed the plastic was pulled off. I guess the framers liked using the porch swing for their lunch break? In any case it got pretty dusty and just another item we had to clean.
<br /> All of the items in question were used to perform the job. Almost every item was worth $20 or less. Nothing was deliberately stolen or maliciously damaged. With that said, it would have been nice to get a phone call, email, or text basically stating something like ?hey, just wanted to let you know that we needed to use this or that out of the garage?.
<br />
<em>Determination of Grade</em>
<br /> Started with an A+ and adjusted their grade based on the following:
<br /> - Windows, subtract 1, A
<br /> - Use of personal items, subtract 1, A
<br /> - Design contract issues, subtract 1, B+
<br /> - Communication, subtract 1, B
<br /> - Freebees, add 1, B+
<br /> Overall Grade B+, truncated to B for Angies list

"I highly recommend GJ construction for your bath remodel project. The whole crew is pleasant and courteous and they work efficiently to get your project done in a timely manner. Israel makes a point of answering your questions as the project progresses and offers some great remodeling ideas as well. I especially appreciated Jesus who prepped for installing shower, and made sure that the plumbing work was done correctly . He really hustled for me and found a cabinet maker and fabricator for me to create a beautiful vanity. The tile crew and painter Deo are exceptional workers as well.
I am very happy with my bathroom remodel . I would not hesitate to hire this company for your project. I feel confident that you would be pleased with their work and professionalism as well.

"Mr. Flores and his crew showed up 10 minutes early; went to work straight away; were very fastidious in preparing their work areas and cleaning up after their work was done; were knowledgeable, polite and courteous. Please note: This was the first time I had used their services and met Mr. Flores; and he is not a relative or friend of mine. I have already arranged with him to return and do other projects. I also referred him to my relatives - some of whom are perfectionists regarding work done on their homes.

General building contractor who currently works independently and is looking to grow business to hire one employee. I do mostly carpentry and cabinet making my self. I do perform other trades depending on how much there is. I have good dependable subcontractors that I call when necessary. Depending on the size of the job, I ask for down payment and progress payments or may just wait to bill the job once it is complete

This required any number of skills and Mr. Viss had all of them. People have been calling this finest private sauna they have ever seen. You can't go wrong with Mr. Viss.

"Charged $100 for an estimate. Other people give a free estimate. The estimate and the actual price was almost doubled. $100 down the drain. The only positive was the staff that helped with selecting the materials."
